I am torn.

Featured Replies

Ok so im kinda new to baitcasting reels, but i want something that will last me a while and also be worth the money and work for the water im fishing. I live in central Ohio but im moving to Nort Port, Florida in march and im trying to figure out if i should go with the *** ***. I like this reel because its salt water ready, holds a load of line and has a crazy amount of maximum drag. Im also interest in a Shimano Curado K since the brand itself seems really dependable abll over. This reel does hold less line and has less drag but something tells me its less of a gamble. Anyone have opionions on this subject to help me not regret the money i spend. I would like to add that down in florida i will.be doing more fresh water fishing on canals, ponds and some trips to The Big O with a buddy of mine.

The *** reels are well built enough but imo a little over priced comparatively.  Max drag is of little importance. Regardless of saltwater rating, rinse reels immediately after use with fresh water and dry prior to storage. Service regularly.

Curado k due to the fact that shimano's customer service it top. l3 C.S is about as good as 1 ply toilet paper...

If I was you I would be looking for the old zillion costal.  The htsa and htsl right or left says salt water ready.  I have two but do not use them in salt.  Of you like round reels the daiwa millionaire bay area blue reel is sweet.

Have to chime in and agree with Shimano or Diawa here.  I couldn’t tell you if Shimano’s customer service is any good as I have never had to use them in the last 20 years that I have been fishing there baitcasters or spinning reels.

I have a couple Con A and C. I'll have my Z this week. I love their reels but have to agree with DVT they are a little over priced. The *** is at a good price and if all the features work flawlessly I believe the Z is at a good price. When they first releases the A was $149 and the C was $199. I assume it was because they were very popular when they released that they upped the price.

Ive considered the Z myself i think $200 seems pretty fair to me. I appreciate the input from every one.

22 pounds of drag is way more than you will ever need on a low profile reel.
