Legend Glass vs. Lunkerstik

Featured Replies

I am just curious as I hear a lot of reviews on the Legend Glass series of rods but next to nothing on the Fenwick Lunkerstik. Does anyone have a comparison...I know the price is considerably different but figured I would ask. The 7'3" Lunkerstik looks nice and it's only $80. It's a glass rod (which I haven't used) so how much different could they be? I think the Legend Glass rods are some of the nicest looking rods aesthetically on the market! Thanks and best wishes on the water!

How do most comparisons end up when you compare an item to another costing three times as much?

The blanks look similar in color haha.

Oh I know, but isn't S glass pretty much the same across the board?

Apples to oranges.

Never used either.  All I know is I feel I have always gotten good value for my money with Fenwick.  I have HMG, Elite Tech, Elite Tech Smallmouth and Aetos rods in spinning and baitcast models.  I also have a 9' Fenglass spinning rod for live nightwalkers from 50 plus years ago.  Ugly yellow color.  :(  Does what is was designed for, tho, as long as you don't try to whip it too hard.

I checked reviews on the Fenwick and it seems people like the rod.  Comparing it to a rod costing $170 more isn't very fair.  You may not get 3 times the value from the Legend, but it has to be a better rod.

I trust your opinion.  Why not buy a LunkerStik and give us a review?  :teeth:

The same material does not equal the same results. Two aluminium engine blocks, one in a hyundi senata is not going to give you the same results as the aluminium engine block in a porsche 911.

Better, get both, and do a comparo.  In general terms, Fenwick makes a good, fairly priced product.  The lunkerstik will likely perform decently, hold up well, and get the job done.  The Legend Glass is made by skilled American craftsmen, with top quality components, and carries a strong warranty/replacement program.  Customer service at SC is well known to be very good.

Buying rods should be based on how they feel to you, balance, flexibility and within your budget. When evrything is equal then customer service and warranty becomes essential. It's your decision.

What application do you feel a glass rods is needed?
