Looking at getting a decent rod for mid range crankbaits, such as DT6's. Anyone have any thoughts on a 100-150 option for this?

X2 on the fury. I bought a 200 dollar fenwick rod a few years back that was marked down below the price of the fury and really was not impressed with it. To be completely honest the fury is still a better cranking rod than the fenwick which retailed almost a 100 dollars more.

I assume this was an Aetos.  I bought 2 of the 7' Mediums when FFO had a buy one, get 2nd for 50% off.  Had it out once.  Don't remember what I had on it (probably a 3/8 oz.), but remember I wasn't too thrilled with the distance I was getting.  Will have a better idea of its value in a couple weeks.  Just shipped one to Florida.  Hope to put it to good use in the next two weeks.  Hopefully I will get out more than I did last year.  My fishing budding had to work so we made it out a whole 3 times last year.  :(  I have to add that I love using the 6'6" MLM Aetos I got from FFO.

Brian, the Fury gets mentioned a lot on here.  No experience with one personally.  Daiwa offers a few in your price range.  I just got a Major Craft spinning rod for Ned Rigs.  It is a nice looking rod.  There are quite a few rods that would fit your budget....Phenix, Okuma, Powell, Shimano, etc.

Hey Brian I use an Irod Genesis II IRG703CC for these type of baits as well as all my square bills, small to mid depth cranks and even rattle trap type baits up to 3/4 ounce.  If you want to handle one check out Angler Express (in Timonium MD), they usually stock them. I would call before running over there of course.  I would be happy to let you cast mine if that helps any as well.  The Irod Genesis II rods run around $150.

I own the fury 705cb and think it would be good for the baits mentioned above. It is not the most sensitive stick out there but it has that characteristic parabolic bend which is great for any bait with treble hooks. I use mine mostly for topwater baits now that I own a champion 705cb.

At the $100 dollar range the falcon bucoo sr 7' medium moderate( I have it just don't know the technical name is without it handy). On the little higher end the falcon lowrider 20 Mansfield special. I have it also and it's an extremely quality rod. It's handled 1/4 and 1/2 oz lipless cranks and down to dt14s well. Plus made in the U.S.

Cabelas tournament zx rods sell for 99 and are on sale now and often for 79. My rods of choice and prefer them to much higher priced rods. Their 7' cranking rod is my go to for dt6 and square bills.  Good luck

That Fury is a great idea, perfect for dt6s and squarebills. I had a deal that I couldnt pass up on a Lews TP1, which is a little heavier  but I like it. Head to a local shop and see what you can get your hands on.

I think the Dobyns Fury 705cb would be perfect for that.

I just bought 2 of these for mid depth cranks. They are a great choice! Best crankbait rod in that price range. I own some Dobyns Savvy and Champions, and these were my first Fury purchases. I am impressed how lightweight these 705cb’s are!

Dobyns Fury 705cb is a beast.   Caught 19 this weekend on a single lure on a hot crankbait bite and only lost 1 dink that I was too gentle with, and 1 other that I got back on the very next cast.   Pulled in a couple 3.6 lbers, some big 2s and a lot of little guys as well and it handled the range of sizes exceptionally well.   I love the casting ability and flex on that rod and it is strong, yet forgiving in a perfect balance I find.  Such a fun rod especially at that price.  Love it for jerkbaits as well.

I have both Okuma EVX 7' cranking rods, and they are really nice for $100.  The MH version fishes a little heavier than my SC Avid AVC70MHM, but throws those deep diver plugs a mile.
