What size chatterbait do the pros mostly throw?  I keep seeing 1/2oz cause it can be fished shallow or deep with relative ease.  I just want to buy one size so I dont have to mess with all kinds of weights if I can get away with it. What are your guys opinions on this?

I exclusively throw 3/8, but the water I fish isn’t that deep and there’s tons of grass on the bottom. 1/2 is just too heavy, especially with a trailer on it. 

I mainly fish 3/8oz, but I make my own so carrying a variety of sizes is easy and I have them from 1/8oz to 1oz.

A 3/8th oz. will tend to rise so keeping your rod tip low will help keep it down . Another trick to carrying one size (3/8th oz.) is to let it sink to the bottom then yo-yo the retrieve .

I make bladed jigs so I have sizes from 1/4 to 1 oz.  The one I use most of the time is 1/2 oz.

3/8's is my go to size. It can be used in dirt shallow water, and is great for ticking the tops of grass over water 5-8 feet deep. I use nothing lighter than 3/8's, and I by-pass 1/2 and 3/4 oz and go straight to 1 oz after 3/8's, it 's a good size for slow rolling along deep grass lines. I felt that it stayed "down" better than 1/2 and 3/4's, as the blade wants to create a little "lift" on the lighter baits.

I’ve got a 1/2 ounce and 3/8. I use the half ounce the most, but slinging that big thing makes my arm hurt after a while, but if it’s catching I can deal with it...

I use 3/8 usuallly.  Especially in cold water as I can work it very slowly without it burying into the grass.  I have 1/2oz when i wanna fish deeper or burn it back

I have mostly 3/8 with a few 1/4oz. There are a few shallow spots that I fish and like a slower presentation there that I use the 1/4oz. for. Outside of that I use 3/8oz. exclusively. I don’t fish deep water so anything heavier is not necessary for me.
