Does anyone know of a different rod with this same style grip?

Featured Replies

Was wandering around Bass Pro and picked up the Johnny Morris Platinum and immediately fell in love with the grip, particularly the molding by the trigger.  Now this may seem small of me but I can't deal with the color of the finish it's not what I want to look down at for hours.    Does anyone know of a rod with this similar grip?  If not is there a way to darken it without compromising it?  I guess last resort would be how much would it cost to put that grip on a different blank?

That's technically the reel seat not the grip. Thevparts and labor the swap all that puts you well on your way to a new build. Cost forcthat varies but I'll quote you if you send details what you're looking for.  I'm sure someone else is using that seat. You'll have to look around.

That's not an uncommon feature if I'm not mistaken.  The castaway skeleton v2 has that grip.

Thank you so much for the response.  The reason I asked about others using that reel seat is I'd rather not get into high $$$ just yet.

Thank you, just checked it out.  It looks similar but I'm actually very particular to the molded part just past the trigger the channel that the fingers fit in is the best description.  When I picked it up it felt like it was a mold of my own hand.  Reminds me of an old rifle I once owned.  I'm pretty particular, bordering on quirky when it comes to rod selections.  Reel seat (thanks DVT) and color are right up there with blank quality.  Don't judge me...lol.

Fuji ACS reel seat

Be sure to mount a reel and see how it feels then. A lot of people have a very strong dislike for that reel seat.

"Favorite" Brand fishing rods, Enigma, Falcon, Halo, IRod, Lamaglass, Power Tackle, Phenix, Quantum and Abu Garcia uses the ACS reel seat but has a different finishes and colors. I found all of them on Tacklewarehouse, I'm sure there are more it is popular by manufactures but gets a lot of hate by anglers (reasons stated above).

Thanks everyone for the replies certainly a lot of food for thought, and very good points about the feel changing with a reel mounted on it.
