Spinner bait

Featured Replies

I used a spinner bait for the first time today. I tied directly to my line. Is it normal for the rod tip and line to vibrate as you retrieve it?

Ive watched a ton of videos on using a spinner bait and never heard mention of this phenomenon. I am using a 7'6 h-f rod with a Abu Revos reel 6.3:1 on 30lb braid w/o a leader.

It is normal and fishing it with braid is going to increase the sensation. The blade configuration is going to effect how much vibration you feel as well.

Yes.

As the blade(s) spin in the water, they shake or vibrate the wire that they're connected to.

That's what your feeling up the line & then through your rod.

It's a good thing as this is one of the main attracting qualities of that bait.

Get in tune with that vibration, it will help you become a better angler.

If it stops, you either have a bait that's fouled by weeds OR a Fish.

At that point ~ Set The Hook !

The typical blades on these definitely will buzz your rod & line.  If you use one with Colorado blades it will really wake you up.  I guess that's why they use the Colorado spinners when night fishing.

You think a Spinnerbait vibrates your rod tip and line... Wait til' you fish a Chatterbait! They got their name for a reason!

The vibration means the blade is spinning and the bait is doing what it’s supposed to do. When it stops vibrating, it could mean a fish has it, or it’s fouled up on weeds or itself.

Yes, and the vibration is your friend -- as already mentioned, it provides valuable feedback about what's going on with your lure.
