Tips for trip to Table Rock

Featured Replies

I will be fishing Table Rock for 3-4 days in mid September. I've never fished the lake before. Does anyone have any tips on where to find bass and how to catch them that time of year?

Thanks in Advance

I'm spending a week there myself in mid September . I've been twice before and caught fish but didnt tear them up . I caught them on  Jigs , Texas rigged craws , Spooks , jigging spoons and poppers in the Aunts creek and cow  creek area .

What part of the lake? Are you going to be in a boat?

I will be launching around Indian Point. I have a boat. I believe that is considered the mid/lower portion of the lake.

Tough time of year to be out there if it starts to cool off, fish will start to scatter out a lot. Most of the fish being caught right now are deep but seem to be biting well on the usual stuff, drop shot, jig, spoon, swimbait, plopper or walking baits in the mornings. Lots of good roll off points to fish in Indian. You can run south a ways to Cleavinger, I usually do well in there.

If you haven't already, I'd highly suggest looking at Ozarkanglers Table Rock forum, tons of good lake specific info there and reports almost daily, often from that portion of the lake.

Good info from Blue, you could also check out Utube for Pete Wenners and Eric Prey as they do weekly fishing reports... this might give a place to start.

X2 on these guys channels, They do at least 1 a week with lots of great up to date information to point you in the right direction.

Start early, fish late, night fish even if you are up to it.Better bite and less traffic.

Make sure to look at last year and the year before's videos that are at a similar time. Remember, the most recent video these guys do is LAST WEEK'S fishing report. The bite can change from the time they were on the water and did the video from the time you get on the water. How frustrating would it be to have watched the most recent video stating that the crankbait bite is "on fire" and then go out cranking away to catch no fish, then to find out that in the next video they say "well the crankbait bite is gone".  I would go find and watch a week or two in both directions from last year to get a sense of what to expect. The fish usually progress through similar seasonal patterns on the lake, but not always at the exact same time.

Very true, it sounds like the bite had crashed hard this week, 50 to 100 fish days have gone to working for  10 fish.

I think we are getting the usual September funk a bit early. They will bite the big worm some up the river and the spoon bite has been, or was pretty consistent.

It's hard to pattern Table Rock day to day so a month out is pretty much impossible.

As was said keep, a eye on Ozark Anglers and the reports. You may consider hiring a guide.
