i want to get a new rod and ive been looking at kastking rods. they look pretty good for the price, i only work part time so i dont have a ton of money to spend on a new rod and reel. anyone have any experience with any of these rods? ive been eyeing the perigee 2 but thats just based off of the look lol.

I have 2 KastKing setups. One is a KastKing spinning reel and the other is a KastKing bait caster. Both are on the Perigee 2 series rod. I added them when I needed some more 2 piece travel rods. I have some good fast action 2 piece rods, but the Perigees fill the niche for a rod in more the moderate action category for me. I've used them for poppers, smaller spooks, lipless cranks, and hard jerbaits. I haven't tried throwing plastics on them as they have a little too much flex through the middle for my taste compared to my dedicated plastics rods I use. Maybe someone else can chime in on their use for plastics. If I need extra rods for a treble hook lure in a tournament, I wouldn't hesitate to grab them.

I have an 8' H/F speed demon bass series (flippin) and I like it a lot, very solid rod.  The only thing I don't like about it is the placement of the lure holder, if you have bigger hands it rubs a bit when flipping. 

Own..KK 69.98  Royale Legend casting 6'6" med. fast rated for the following and performs as advertised...for me OK...

The Perigee II is a great rod for the money. I highly recommend it. I have 2piece versions of the spinning and casting models. 

 

My next purchase will be a 1piece casting rod as I like them so much. 

I'm waiting for a mod to chime in and say they've sold all their Dobyns and Loomis rods for Kast Kings...

I have gotten rid of all Dobyns and Loomis rods from my collection, wiseass.

Personally have not been a fan of any of the Loomis rods I've owned or fished, but Dobyn's are nice, just mostly out of my price range to get their better quality rods. I have 2 Fury's that get a good amount of use. I still manage to scrape by with my budget rods though. 

 

I've been using my new Speed Demon Pro and really liking it. I like the Winn Grips and how light and sensitive it is for a rod in a very saturated price range. I'll echo what @nosdog2 said about the hook keeper, not my favorite location and seems kind of flimsy, but that's the only part about it I haven't been a fan of so far. I'd like to try a couple more of them, especially a couple spinning rods.

Seems like I read a while back that RW sold off his Cores and the rest of his Shimano collection, and Francho services KK reels exclusively now. 

 

On a serious note, their rods actually don't look bad but no way I'd buy one without being able to handle one first. Or any other rod for that matter.

which speed demon pro rod do you  have?

I ordered the jig/worm rod to go with my speed demon pro reel. should be here tomorrow. 

The reel is currently on an old  medium heavy fish eagle rod. The fish eagle is heavy and has a stiff tip.

 wanted something lighter with a little softer tip for dragging worms around.

I got the 7' 3" M/F Worm/Jig rod

 

received my new Kastking 7ft 3in speed demon pro worm/jig Rod last night.

added my speed demon pro reel, spooled with 40lb power pro.

 

I was a little underwhelmed with the rod at first . It was very slender and the tip seemed too light for a worm/jig rod.

took it to a local power plant lake with hopes of hooking a large bass.

threw a zoom ol monster with a 3/8 oz weight along rip rap banks. I immediately understood the reason for the light tip. The rod is very sensitive. I could feel every rock the worm hit. Much more sensitive than the fish eagle rod it replaced. Plus it weighed less than half of the fish eagle.

didn't catch any monsters, but caught 3 bass between 2.5 and 3.5 lbs.  the fish below was the largest.

surprisingly hook sets were solid. Even with the light tip, it has a lot of backbone. it easily handled the 3 bass I caught today. 

It is  not a $400.00 rod, but for $109.00 it was pretty impressive. It will get a lot of use on my boat.
