Get longer casts with Fireline Ultra 8 Carrier fishing line.  It's a little stiff off the spool. You just need to use it a little bit, and then it unleashes a whole new line!

 

 

How would you compare this to powerpro? 

No tip wrap, no fraying, no fading. Good riddance power pro!

Zero. Used 20# on both spinning and casting all last winter for steel head. Hooked 60+ fish with zero issues except for the occasional bird nest from hooking into the brush behind me on the back cast............

I have to admit that I'm curious. I recently switched from PP 65 to TUF Domin8 50 for my frogging set up. I am really enjoying the line but it has some of the same pitfalls, namely the slinky nature. No matter how good the brakes and or thumb are you gotta be on your game to watch for loose wraps. A stiffer, coated line like this is probably exactly what would solve that. I've never been a fireline fan but I'm keeping my eyes on it now.

I've been using it on a spinning reel for a few weeks now. Even in a heavy cross wind with a light T-rig I haven't had any wind knots. I wouldn't go heavier than 10lb on standard bass spinning gear though. It's pretty thick and wiry like standard Fireline, especially at first before it breaks in, makes handling much easier. 

Just tried this on my casting setup. I'm using  17lb - .011, equivalent to 30lb PP braid in diameter. So far so good. No backlashes at all. Has good casting distance. I used reel magic on the line the night before.  The only downside is the price. 10.00 more a spool for 300yds. 

I gave up Power Pro years ago when It stained my Citica green.

I'm a big fan of Fireline. Will have to look into this for sure!

I actually never had PP stain before. That's strange. 

Green Power Pro from 15 years ago. Then the line ended up white.

I bought a spool of the red and it turned my thumb and spool red for the first few fishing trips.

The red is awful, I have some on my channel cat baitfeeders and it looks like my spools are bleeding. 

I'm using this in 8lb on my spinning setup and it can cast a mile.  Good knot strength, hasn't frayed or anything.  No wind knots either.  Very good line!

I have 8# on Spinning and casting reels with no issues but one birds nest and i am screwed!
