Bent Handle.

Featured Replies

Well. This sums up my season of fishing. Bent my handle on my Zillion SV. Don’t know when. Any recommendations?

Recommendations for a new handle?

Thanks. Is it worth trying to bend back or buy new?

You can try to bend it back in a vice, idk, i've never tried before.

If it bent with out cracking then the metal is soft enough to bend back. Hold the flat section in a vise ( put cloth or thin cardboard around it, so it doesn't get scratched) and pull the bent end back. I'm guessing it's probably anodized aluminum ( if a magnet doesn't stick to it is aluminum) so should bend back pretty easy.

If you are somewhat handy, it should be a fairly simple fix. If you are using a vise, I would recommend wood blocks to keep from marring the finish. You can use a small adjustable wrench to make the actual bending. A good idea is if you have another of the same model, take it off the reel, and use it as a guide, or you can work slowly, and just make sure the handle knobs are parallel. Chances are only one side is bent. Worse case scenario, there is a fancy carbon handle in your future.

My Zillion handle looks almost exactly like the one shown, and I don't have any idea when or how it happened either!  Did you try to bend it back?  Was it successful, and if not what handle did you buy to replace it?

I picked up a rod off the deck once to find the reel's nice carbon fiber handle was broken.  I was fishing alone and know I didn't step on it.  Later in the day, I was pulling up the trolling motor and realized what had happened.

The reel was sitting upright with the handle at 90˚ to the rod.  When the trolling motor dropped into its stowed position, it went just low enough to hit a handle that was directly upright.  I later broke one more reel handle before getting it through my thick head that I needed to double-check the location of the reels and reel handles before stowing the motor.

The Zillion SV has an aluminum handle.  Bend it back and keep fishing.

Stepped on mine Sunday...bent it back...kept fishing...give it a try.
