Colors and lures for night fishing a pond in south texas in 60 degree weather

Featured Replies

Planning on going night fishing soon and i wanted to know what the best colors are techniques are for fishing a pond in south texas

In December, traditionally in AZ at night, when I mostly shore fish, the following have been consistent winners for our ponds:

White Chatterbaits with pearl white fluke jr as trailers during streaks of warmer weather

Black and Blue SK Bitsy Bugs with Toledo Bend Netbaits Paca Chunks around docks and sandy bottoms

Drop Shot with 4.5” FAT Straight Tail worms in Desert Craw and SXE Shad where I know shad are dying off

3” White grubs on underspins slow rolled. 3” Kalins Grubs In Ron’s Craw or Berkeley PowerGrubs In pumpkinseed In mouths of coves or off channels especially

Folks might be surprised how effective drop shotting can be at night. Just use a rod with a sensitive rod tip! This season, I’m going to really focus on the Ned rig and shakeyhead with Zoom finesse worms and Bottom Hoppers.

The same lures, techniques, & locations I fish during the day.

Bass do not morph into a new creature because the sun set!

This is what I have found out as well unless it is pitch black.  When in doubt use the same lures that work in the day in solid black.  Black silouites the best at night for lures.

Texas rig with glass bead and sliding bullet weight soft plastics like 10 Berkeley Power worms should catch bass anywhere at night.
