This is something like what I was talking about when I said zig zagging a floating crank over the fish’s head works. Just like this video, I started doing that after getting bit zig zagging the bait on top of the water just as I was lifting the bait out of the water in a last ditch attempt to get a fish I could see actually bite it. I spend a lot of time zig zagging like this but from far away on long casts, This completely takes the idea to the extreme. That’s an awesome technique. ? It’s a great idea! ?

Sometimes when fishing frogs, I'll toss them on shore, and hop them into the shallows at the water's edge.  It works pretty well.

+1 on that. In the residential communities I fish there are often small lagoons or narrow part of lagoons where I can cast from the bank I'm standing to the one across the water. And many times that grass is mowed and maintained, so that technique works with other single hook baits like jigs and spinnerbaits as well.

Around here doodle socking is casting a top water over an overhanging lime, letting it down to the water and just barely letting it jiggle on the surface.  It is an old river float technique.
