Does anyone know the difference between these two? I have the floroclear on a spinning reel and haves noticed it’s getting extremely rough to the touch. No longer smooth feeling when reeling between the fingers. That is the entire line and have only used it a few times and it hasn’t been on that long.

I have the CX on baitcast and it seems to not hold a lot of memory. Been on that reel for 6months. 

 

 

Both are copolymers of questionable quality.  The CX will make a fine backing material.

The Fluoroclear is for casting off unwanted lures as it will break frequently.

 

I like Flouroclear and I use it for bladed jigs/swimjigs and jerkbaits.  It's cheap enough to replace often.  It's never let me down.

 

To answer your question, I believe that Flouroclear is flourocarbon coated copolymer line while the CX is not.

Lol funny you say that.... had one break yesterday on the cast. 

I like P-line copolymer, but not either of those two. P-line C21 or CXX crystal clear are great line and neither are expensive. C21 is more manageable, CXX is about unbreakable and has crazy abrasion resistance, but it's also thicker and has pretty high memory if you try to use it on spinning gear or for bottom contact baits.

Not funny, but true.  I put 10# Floroclear on a reel I took to Florida last year.  Switched the reel out the very first day I used it.  Line broke too easily.

I use to Fluoroclear as well but I too had issues.  I thought it broke one test below its measured line rating. If I wanted 10lb, I bought 12lb instead. For me, it seemed to last as long as regular mono in the same price range.

 

CX I like but not for casting gear.  It worked better for me on spinning gear.  I do like CXX for casting gear though and continue to use.  It is hard line to break, the opposite of Fluoroclear. 

 

I have since found other lines I like better and moved on but for the money it's not bad line.
