I made this out of 4 standard skirts. I’m guessing around 200 strands total. Looks like a sea urchin underwater. I’m looking forward to trying it out. Anyone else tried a jig like this?

I've made some pretty thick mop jigs. Use fine cut skirt to make lots of strands but still able to move well. This one is almost all fine cut round rubber.

Have you ever laid silicone over rubber?

Yes, I've mixed the 2 before, it works well but it's kind of a pain.

I like the additional strands and really like the round rubber in the way they react in the water, but I always found them to be a bit of a pain casting them. Seem like the added strands catch way too much air...could just be me though.

Just hoping to find a way to make more without using up 3-4 replacement skirts!

This isn’t quite as “full” but if you use Skirts Unlimited Tatantula Series, it is an extremely wide strand that really puffs out once you get in in the water. I can use one tab per jig as opposed to my normal 2 tab jig but it flares out just as well.
