trickster spinnerbait

Featured Replies

Have always been a fan of these baits but have never found the 3/4oz. size (Clunn used them on the St. Johns) I have googled and all of that but come up empty - the long drop blade is not available by itself.

I have indiana's and okie's in big sizes from lure part companies but not the long drop which I think is a very good design.

Any ideas?

Take the blades from a trickster and put them on a 3/4 oz frame, no flow chart required..

ps: not a fan of the trickster.

I made my own version.

Haven't fished it yet.

Soon though.

Been there, done that. Did NOT have good results. Don't know why, just didn't. Hope you do.  jj

The trickster blade looks to me like a willow with the end of the blade ground off and rounded. They can grind fairly quickly, however, if you're like me, you have a grinding machine. If you have a drill you can get a stone grinder attachment for a few bucks and can grind the willow that way? Seems like a lot of work tho.

They weren't exactly 'extra' blades.

More along the lines of  'a sacrifice'.

Meaning, I chopped up perfectly good spinners to get them.

They were on sale at a little local sporting goods store.

That's when it hit me - "Hey, they look sort of like that long blade".
