Rod broken

Featured Replies

So their I was all excited about finally going to replaced the eyelet on my Dobyns Fury Series FR733C Rod. I have watched countless number of videos on how to do it. I was a little nervous being that this was my first time doing this, So I took off the eyelet and then it happened, it was broken underneath the eyelet. Not a good way to start the three day weekend. Anyone have any thoughts on what to do? Is it junk now? Is it even worth getting it fix? I was thinking of calling Dobyns and seeing what they’ll do. Anyway have a great weekend.

I called Dobyns and talked with someone and they wanted to see some pics so that’s what I have done. We will see what happens and go from there.

Please keep us updated. I would to hear what they say about it.

What do you mean by eyelet?

The best repairs use internal and external sleeves to fix a break and it’s a pretty finacky repair.  If Dobyns offers a replacement for $75 or less, I’d choose that alternative.

Update:  Dobyns, after looking at the pics I sent them, they wanted me to send them the rod. Which is a great idea and if it is a defect, they would give me a new rod. Well after looking at the cost of shipping them the rod (over $50.00) with ups. I think I’ll take the 50.00 and use it toward another rod. Maybe another  Falcon rod who knows.

You can't just cut the rod off each side of the break and send them the relevant piece? Would save a lot on shipping and would give them the break to examine. I can't imagine they'd gat any more information from the whole rod than they would the relevant 10" section.

This.

Check out the replacement program on their website.

Just cut it down, send the piece, and pay the $70 bucks for the replacement.

It took me years and years to remember tisane receipts - comes in handy when you bust one.

Update #2: I have been talking to their CS department and was told about their $25 shipping and so I’m going to ship them the rod and see what happens.
