Texas Rig/ Jig

Featured Replies

*New user* So i'm looking for a rod that's sensitive/strong for worms and jigs, but that's not overly priced, so something not over let's say $140ish. Currently running a Abu Vengeance and i think it's time for an upgrade. My jigs run from 1/4oz for shallow water and 3/8 as my main weight; Texas rig weigh 3/16 at the least and 1/4 mainly. Any suggestions? Thank you

I was going to say an OG Tatula rod but I only own a MH and it sounds like you need a medium power rod. I can, however, recommend a daiwa cronos M rod. I usually mount my sv105 on it and can throw a variety of baits and weights ranging in the 1/4 to 3/4 rod rating. Smaller blank than the OG tat (it seems it should be a better blank than the tat based by MSRP, but the OG tat is SVF and the cronos is HVF). Great build, sensitive, and can be found for around $130 new. I have a M and a MH, I like them so much.

Edit: They don't have a bait keeper. Purchase a fuji keeper, which most walmarts carry, or purchase one online for 5 bucks. I actually like the ability to put a keeper wherever you want.

I highly recommend the StC PC66MF (6'6) or PC70MF (7'0). Disclaimer, I'm a StC fan. The Premiere series is a decent blank, quality rod and price point that's not insane. They're versatile - lure rating 1/4 to 3/4 oz, line 10-17 lb. They say StC runs a little on the heavy power side so the M/F is maybe a little heavier than medium but not MH. Website says it's $150 but I got a couple at my local shop for $120. The 6'6 was my first baitcaster (a couple years ago) and while I have a couple "better" rods, these are still my favorite in their class. I use it almost exclusively for Texas rigged worms.

I’d recommend a Daiwa Tatula, on sale at Sportsman’s Outfitters. IMO, Way better than any other rod in your price range.

Gotta echo the Diawa Tatula.  Excellent rods

Sold my St Croix AvidX and LTB’s for other rods including the less expensive but superior (IMO) Daiwa Tatula.  Just as strong, sensitive, but lighter and less tip heavy.  Great lineup..

The more I handle Winn grips the better I like em ?
