Worms

Featured Replies

I went thru my old worm box the other day and found a lot of my worms are still pretty supple...

However they are all very old.. I'm talking like 30+ yr old.

Are they any good still ?

Throw those babies, like vintage wine they get better with age.

Yep!

You can soften them by putting them in boiling water for a few minutes and laying straight to cool. The worms will not get any softer them they were originally after they cool, but they will be straight if laid straight.

And hose them down with a little Jack's Juice Garlic spray and they are good to go.

I still have some worms from the late 70s and 80s and I don’t do anything to them. They work fine.

A few years back I discovered a bag of Otay Special 10" DeLong worms from the late 60's that had tacken a bent set. I boiled the stiff bent worms a few minutes, laid the straight to cool and they were better then new.

My advice is never store soft plastics in attractant scent, add scent as needed when fishing.

They're fine like @OnthePotomac said add a little spray, I prefer Baitmate Classic with a ½ oz of pure anise oil added.

Storing them in attractant doesn't hurt a thing, been doing since the old days if Fish Formula.
