Which e6x?

Featured Replies

Want to get my first Gloomis rod to pair with my ultegra 3000, im only in the budget for a e6x spinning rod but am kind of overwhelmed by all of the options they have like spin jig, jig and worm, dropshot, shakeyhead. Im mainly going to be using it for smallmouth and walleye and will be using 1/4oz jig heads with plastics, ned rigs, occasionally a dropshot and sometimes a wacky rig. Just curious which e6x I should get and will pair nicley with the reel.

I feel like you could get a much better rod for the money than the e6x

I have an Aetos and I like it but want to try other brands. I don’t like how short the handles are on the st croixs either.

Do you prefer full cork handles with a foregrip? 7' length?

TW only carries 2018 E6X rods, are they being discontinued?

No preference really, I’m not sure if they are being discontinued or not.

I would suggest the 802S JWR it is what got after being impressed with the casting rods. I have it paired with a 2500 sized Stradic fk and use it for fishing 3/16 oz spider jigs and 1/8oz ned rigs and wacky rigged senkos. Really like it for what i use it for.

for the first generation yes, but the updated 2018 models are much lighter and crisper. They are much more bang for the buck.

for what its worth I have the 7'5 JWR 892s and I use it for everything.

I have it paired with a stradic 3000. its awesome, very light and casts really far due to the extra length.

However, I just recently got it and I have yet to catch something on it up here in Canada.

That's a great choice. They're a great series of rods. The updated versions of them are really nice, a with better handle and smaller guides.

If you ever want a casting rod in that series check out this guy 7'  843C MBR. Or if you want a shorter version

the 6'6" 783 MBR. These rods have the MBR taper from the older IMX rods and they are excellent.

Not to jack the thread but what would you recommend in that price range? Looking for a new rod. T-rigs and jigs mostly.

There is an undue amount of dissing the E6X rods. They are excellent rods.

The new levantes are very good for the price point .

I use a first gen E6X 803S MH JWR as my go to Smallie rod. I paid full retail for it and would again.

This stick handles anything I might want to throw and has exceeded my expectations.

Paired with a Shimano Stradic FJ I'm prepared for anything the Great Miami could throw at me

Just took a look at those and they seem like they would be really good. Thanks for the heads up.
