Anyone know anything about Ozark Trail kayaks?

Featured Replies

They had these things at Walmart for less 500 bucks. I'm assuming it's a rebrand where the name is just slapped on the side. Anyone knpw what factory these come out of / who makes them? They look fairly nice for the money.

It's a Sun Dolphin Boss 12. There are a lot of video reviews on youtube. Looks pretty nice for sub $500 and is supposed to be very stable.

Sundolphin makes them. Bought my girlfriend one of the ten foot Ozarks. It has a sundolphin plaque on the inside of the kayak. It was less money with more features. And for how much it will get used why not

It’s a lot of kayak for the money, but the plastic is very thin, and warps easily. Where the seat sits is a big problem area, from what I understand. If you’re prepared to deal with that if it becomes an issue, it’s got a lot of nice features.

I almost bought one til I read tons of people having their seat pop out after a few hours out on a hot day. The sun is brutal on any kayak where I live, so I wasn’t prepared to risk it.

I came close to buying one too and heard the same about the seat and plastic. There are easy ways to fix it if you are just a little bit handy. It also may be more of a problem with overweight folk than with more normal sized people.

I don't know how many times I see a guy talking about how unstable or weak his plastic kayak is under his 300 pound body.

In the end I waited longer than I wanted too and found one on CraigsList - a WS Ride 115 for 500, with an AirPro max seat, I'm glad I was patient. Great deal!

Kayak fishing is silly enough, but fat guy in a kayak should be a YouTube category, like Top 10, or flat earth.

Some of the funniest things I've seen on the water.

I swear one of the most common kayak question asked on forums and facebook is "what's the best kayak under $300 for someone over 300lbs"  ?
