Caught a decent carp with the ultralight while fishing for catfish bait

I've never caught a bass on a traditional skirted spinnerbait.

Anyone know anything about these? I'm intrigued by them but I was highly underwhelmed by the last Berkley fad lure I fell for.

There's some study I read somewhere that said plain-ol' small stickbaits out perform all the meme Ned craws and creatures that have came out recently. Which I guess makes sense that a finicky bass would be more willing to attack something that can't pinch it.

Caught this long green crappie while fishing docks with a 1 inch Gulp Minnow and a feather jig on the ultralight.

I miss the old blue and green.

Fell for the Nikko meme because NDYakAngler and Richard Gene both shill for them. Bought some Hellgramites, Leeches, ribbed swimbaits, and little shad-shaped swimbaits and the things are so tough I can't get them on anything. The Hellgramites and Leeches will go on ned heads with some encouragement. But I can't get either of the swimbaits to go on anything: ballheads, EWGs, Twistloks, swimjigs.

I just use my bass tackle. I use my bass tackle for blue cats too.

Anyone tie loop knots for "finesse" type jig heads like ned rigs, ball heads, and darters? I've been watching alot of Richard Gene who swears by it.

I got skunked while bass fishing so I went up into a short creek that's only accessable by kayak at the back of a slough and caught 3 perch and a buttload of bluegill and sunfish. It's a good thing I brought the ultralight with me and can have fun catching smaller fish.

How do you get these things to run well? I got a pack of 90s and a pack of 110s yesterday, I fished with the 90 weightless side-rigged with a 3/0 Twistlok and it wanted to fall on it's side half of the time and not swim the other half. Added a 1/16oz bullet weight and the tail seemed like it kicked better but it still had the problem of falling over. I have a bunch of assorted EWGs from 1 - 4/0 and none of them seem like they fit well. I played around in the pool with a 90 nose-hooked on I think a 1/0 Octopus hook and it seemed somewhat better but still kinda wanted to tilt. I tried the 110 with a 3/0 Twistlok and 1/16oz weight which seem much better than the 90s but still not completely reliable. I'm really torn on weighing them too, weightless they're hard to keep down and almost sink TOO slow but falling over and fluttering down the way they do seems really deadly in the right spots. With the bullet weight, they go down nose-first but tail looks like it kicks really well at least. The 110's action overall seems better but it might be too big for pressured pond bass in the summer.

Was Kurita's fish a super outlier, or have there been other 15+lbers caught out of there since?

Anyone ever caught muskies in the French Broad? I think it's weird they're that far south.

The rods are okay for the price but the reels are complete garbage and should be replaced yesterday. You also could probably get a Lews Laser rod and a Pfluger Trion at certain Walmarts for the same price and better quality.

Dragging the rod. I normally try to sweep across my body and then reel the slack up.

Is there really much of an action difference between dragging a t-rig and just slow reeling one? For whatever reason I can't commit myself to dragging the lure and while I'll get bit slow swimming lizards and ribbon tails, I think I'll might not be catching as many fish as I should.
