  1. Albright or Double Uni because they're the only ones I can tie
  2. https://www.fishusa.com/Yo-Zuri-Superbraid Anyone use this stuff? I'm looking for something to refill my spinning reels that's not Power Pro and the fact I can also get it at Walmart is a pretty big bonus.
  3. Obviously not a bass but I have no clue how I could've possibly stuck him in the side like that while deadsticking cut bait on a circle hook.
  4. I think we can all agree for bass, but what else? Is it bluegill or bluegills, crappie or crappies, walleye or walleyes?
  5. Been fishing at a crappy state park pond in southern WV and have been catching spawn color bluegills for the past 2 weeks and saw some on beds yesterday. Doesn't that seem awfully early? I didn't think they'd really get into things for another month or so.
  6. WV might be in kind of a unique spot with muskies in that it's north enough for it to not get too warm for them in the summer, far enough south where there's not a complete dead period during the winter, there's no pike and or big gar to compete with them in the "big toothy apex predator" niche, and while places like Burnsville and Stonewall see a lot of fishermen it's no where near the amount that some of these lakes in similar states see.
  7. O-rings are too annoying to thread on and here's some weird reaction between the plastics or something in my messy plano that causes the crappy hair rubber bands to melt and goo up everything, so I stopped bothering with trying to save my senkos. Being happy I caught fish is worth an 8 dollar bag to me.
  8. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00019N7W8/ Anyone know where I can find more of these or something like them? They were the perfect slip-bobber for finnicky park pond bluegill, but I somehow broke my only one now I can't find anything like them or anything that works as well. My 1/16th oz Thill Crappie Corks and Wobble Bobbers are too big and spook fish and I can't find the right combination of weight and bead to make the little foam ones you get at Walmart to stand up well.
  9. Powerbait Honey Worms either on a small jighead or on a small hook + split shot under a bobber.
  10. A half a bluegill on a Carolina rig while fishing for blue cats
  11. Went creek fishing for like the 3rd time ever and the first time I've ever done decent. Caught a couple dink smallmouth and a rock bass. These guys are fun to catch though, they put up more of a fight than some 4+ pound largemouth I've caught on the same gear.
  12. My favorite of that size class are Rapala Ultralight Cranks. I don't think I've ever caught a crappie with one though, but they have caught plenty of sunfish and a handful of largemouths and dink channel cats. What hardbaits do catch crappie for me are 1/8 and 1/4oz X-Raps. This one was with a 1/4.
  13. Is this a rock bass or a warmouth? Either way, it's somehow the first one I've ever caught.
  14. This thing is so convenient that it makes me mad that it's not the standard for everyone.
  15. Both of my ultralights are 5'6 after I broke my 7 foot Fenwick twice because of it's length and whipiness. My Ned Rigs/Senkos rod that's caught 90% of my bass this year is a 6'0 St. Croix Triumph. I like shorter rods for the convenience of not banging into everything, especially since I do alot of kayak fishing and fishing off covered docks.
  16. I have 4 spinning combos. All are just above entry-level quality, all have braid, and I've just noticed the only ones that get wind knots both have a Plueger President as their reel. One is a 6'6 2-piece M Diawa Fuego with a 3500 reel and straight 20lb Power Pro that I mostly just throw treble hook lures with, and the other is a 5'6 UL Shimano Clarus with a 2000 reel and 8 pound J-Braid with a 4lb J-Fluoro leader that I've been recently throwing panfish jigs or Ned Rigs targeting pond dinks. Could something about the reel itself be causing wind knots? I always manually close the bail.
  17. That is something I've never thought of. Countershading in nature exists to camouflage against predators looking that aren't on the same plane, but aren't there alot of situations where you'd want contrast more than anything and therefore would rather have dark on bottom?
  18. It looks shopped. I can tell from the pixels and having seen quite a few pixels in my time
  19. On today's episode of Identify The Hybrid Sunfish, we try to figure out what the hell this is. My guess was greenie x shellcracker, but I'm terrible at telling the difference at a glance. I called every green panfish regardless of species a bluegill until like 2 years ago.
  20. I bought a pack of Nedlockz just to screw around with them, and maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but it's literally impossible to get TRDs rigged well on them. I'd rather spend 10 bucks every few months replenishing my stock of Shroomz heads and TRDs than bother with it.
  21. I caught a dink on a Rebel Crickhopper Popper last night, that was no longer an 10 inches, and had a 4/0 EWG hook and 5 inch Senko pinned in its gullet. It was too small and the hook too big for me to make any headway in removing it, but I got the plastic out and cut the eye and bend off the hook. Maybe that might make it easier to work out, but he's probably a goner. For a happier ending, a few months ago while I was bluegill fishing I had some sort of catfish break off at my leader knot because my drag was set too tight and swam off with a 1/32oz jighead, a slip bobber, and 10 feet of J-Fluoro. The next morning, I saw the bobber floating 50 yards down the bank and got my whole rig back minus the fish.
  22. Just as an update, I got it back last week. Had no communication with them until they sent me a tracking # with one-day shipping. Haven't got to use it again yet because I had to buy a reel for it plus it's rained every day this week.
  23. I bought a rod and a reel from FishUSA before that somehow got separated. The rod got delivered a day before the reel did which was pretty annoying.
  24. Maybe I'm just baselessly generalizing and speculating but I feel like bigger bass are less hungry because they can eat bigger and more filling meals and therefore won't be as likely to chase lures. Like, a 5lb bass choking down 4-8 inch bluegills doesn't feel like it needs to eat as much as a 1.5lb bass subsisting on minnows and small crawdads.
  25. How far will bass often rise to hit a jerkbait? I have a weird aversion to my X-raps and Pointer because they only dive to like 4 feet and for some reason I assume a fat and lazy bass hanging around in 12-15 foot of water won't be interested in hitting it because it's too close to the surface.
