  1. I have been catching a lot of spots recently and I'd like to think I have been getting better at telling the difference between them and largemouth and now my entire existence has been called into question. What is this? Maybe it's just the picture and the way I'm lipping it, but it seems like the jaw doesn't go far enough back to be a largemouth.
  2. Any time I try Albright with braid it pulls through when I try to sinch it. IDK what I'm doing wrong with it.
  3. I even did this, I dragged the whole length of line behind me with the bail open while hauling ass on a kayak and it seemed to help for about 30 casts and then went back to what it was doing.
  4. Wanted to try fluro as a main line for my new M/L rod, spooled 7lb Sunline Sniper first on a Quantum Throttle 20 and then some 3000 sized Lews Speed Spin I got in a combo and had the absolute worst time with line management on both of them. Loops would twist in the line when reeling, a good 10 or so extra feet would shoot off the spool between the time the lure would hit the water and I would close the bail, line would lay behind the spool and get sucked up onto the reel's axle. What's the problem here? Did I spool badly and give it a bunch of twist? I did on the ground with the label facing up like I do with no issue with mono and braid. Is fluro something you can only really get away with on higher-dollar spinning reels? I'm very discouraged about it, especially since Sunline is supposed to be one of the best fluro lines you can buy. Gonna switch back to Trilene mono and maybe use the rest of my Sunline for leader material.
  5. These Lew's Xfinity combos you can get at Walmart are pretty nice for the price. One piece IM7 rod and a pretty smooth reel. Alot better than something like an Ugly Stik in that price range.
  6. They had these things at Walmart for less 500 bucks. I'm assuming it's a rebrand where the name is just slapped on the side. Anyone knpw what factory these come out of / who makes them? They look fairly nice for the money.
  7. It was swimming on it's side when I put it back in, so it's probably catfish food by now.
  8. Just smashed my old record, it's a foul hook though so I'm not sure if it counts.
  9. How often do bass even eat mice? I'm sure a bass would at least give a mouse a passing glance, but is it a common occurrence? How often do mice really take to the water? I keep seeing lures like that and the Combat Rat becoming the new fad topwaters.
  10. I'm not exactly sure, and this isn't a great picture, but this seems like a good candidate.
  11. What kind of taper should I be looking for? Alot of the stuff I'm finding in my price range is moderate-fast. Would I be fine getting hook sets with that? Would the fact that the rod is short give me a little more leverage?
  12. I'm still working on the patent
  13. Yeah, I meant HMG, good catch. I was leaning the Fenwick at first until I snapped the tip off my U/L Eagle and now I'm kinda waffling on the brand and wanting to see what else is available. And depending on how the warranty situation goes with, the M/L I'm wanting to buy might flat-out replace it since I've came to learn that I really never throw anything that light.
  14. My tacticool 10/22 that's overaccessorized for what it needs to be.
  15. I'm spitballing ideas for a 4th rod, 100 bucks is the absolute maximum I'd want to spend. Going to be used mostly for hook-exposed finesse bass applications. Wacky rig, ned rig, nose-hooking weightless flukes, dropshotting if I ever feel like actually trying it out, occasionally also throwing panfish jigs and nightcrawlers under bobbers. I'm wanting something short, like in the 5'8-6'3 range, because it'll be used on a kayak or off a covered dock most of the time and I've learned how annoying longer rods can be to deal with in those situations. Anyone have any ideas? I haven't done a huge amount of research, but so far I've only found that the St. Croix Triumph and Fenwick HMG have rods that meet most of my parameters.
  16. Caught an absolute monster as my first ever topwater bass.
  17. Anyone have any tips on how to avoid wind knots when using jerkbaits with braid? I got 15lb PowerPro spooled on a 35 Pflueger President reel on my hardbait rod, and way too often get nasty unfixable wind knots only when fishing hard jerkbaits. It's getting to the point where I'm seriously considering just switching to mono or copoly.
  18. This is the only forum that I frequent that might know anything about a good pair of boots. I need a pair for work that's not the big 50lb s***kicking pair of Matterhorns that I've been wearing. Looking for a pair that's: *Preferably made in America or at least somewhere in the 1st world *Puncture-resistant sole *Doesn't have to be full metatarsal or even a steel toe, but at least a hard toe *Preferably has a heel *Under 250 bucks Anyone have any ideas?
  19. What should I do about these? I hit up a new pond/small lake, saw several bass in the 1-4lb range tucking themselves right up under laydowns and lilly pad patches, threw literally everything in my tackle box at them and couldn't even get the first glance out of one. Stuck weightless flukes, wacky rigged worms, ned-rigged TRDs, small crankbaits, small-medium sized dressed inlines, and even a little buzzbait right in front of their face and would either get no interest or have them swim away. Is this one of those times that I should just concede that the bite is turned off and try again later?
  20. Here's a good one. They're actually pretty effective dink filters.
  21. I got a bigger dink on an X-Rap once. It was at a pond that wasn't very well managed, I think they were hungry enough to go after anything.
  22. Wait until the shad spawn and drop flukes and senkos in the boils.
  23. What do we count as one session? Between dock and kayak fishing most in one day was: *Largemouth *Spot *White Crappie *Drum *Flathead *Channel Cat *Bluegill But it was between like 3 different lures and 2 different rods.
  24. Fished Chickamauga last week for about 15 hours over 4 days, picked apart 3 different coves and about a hundred yards worth of main-lake shoreline with a wacky rigged senko and a t-rigged lizard, and didn't catch dick for largemouth. Managed to get a handful of keeper crappies, a bunch of bluegill, a few dink catfish, and a spot though. Also had a big blue cat snap 20lb braid while landing, which was fun.
  25. I did this too a while back, I had pictures at one time but now I can't find them. The only crankbaits, lipless or otherwise that were at their advertised weight where my Yo-Zuri 3DBs. Jerkbaits, however were almost all dead-on.
