Good evening!

 

Taking a trip to Texas at the end of October and I'm looking for some insight on the region.  Typical weather that time of year, favorite patterns to run, etc.  I'm from PA so this is a whole new ball game.  

 

I already got hooked up with a guide so Belton, Inks, Lady Bird, Lake Austin, Lake Buchanan, Georgetown, LBJ, Decker, Travis and Stillhouse Hollow are all possibilities. 

 

Anyway I'm looking forward to the trip and hoping you might share some local knowledge!

 

As a bonus, feel free to throw in any of your favorite restaurants or non-fishing activities to do in Austin/Waco in the fall!

Austin has a awesome graffiti park thats pretty neat, may be something you are into!

 

Franklin BBQ has some mean brisket

 

For fishing purposes, late october its probably gonna be in the 70's and 80's, jiggin with a crawdad has done me good in the fall as well as using smaller spinnerbaits.

Parlaying it with the Baylor game?

 

I'm headed to Dallas in 2 weeks and have a free day I might fill with a guide trip.  Looking at Joe Pool or Grapevine currently. 

 

Went to Austin for the game in 2012.  City was great and everyone was welcoming.

Yes!  Got a guide lined up for Wednesday, and tickets for the game Thursday night.  

Air temps in the 40s. Water 64-75.  Wind. Caught them in 10ft water with the A-rig, bladed jig and tight to cover on a frog.  Not what I expected from Texas, but we still had a blast!
