Your favourite high end walleye spinning rod

Featured Replies

Every year I go on an annual moose hunting and walleye fishing trip. I’ve been using a 6’6” e6x medium fast action rod and want to try something different! Preferably 2 piece due to the 14 hour drive with 6-10 guys gear for 10 days worth.

Any suggestions. We mainly troll with jerks, twister tails on round jigs, small paddle tails with swim bait heads, and meps. Very seldomly vertical jig

Your thread title caught my eye! My favorite high end walleye spinning rod is the G. Loomis WPJR 821s GLX. I have mine paired with a Shimano Stradic CI4+ reel and it's incredible to fish with.

I like the St. Croix Legend Elite or Legend Xtreme with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ attached.  Rod length and action to me is preference.  I like M/F or LM/F or M/XF in a rod 6'6"-7'0".

What style of walleye fishing and lures do you boys throw? I almost never vertical jig for walleye, almost always trolling light line, smaller lures. That why I have a hard time picking a rod. Want to try more vertical fishing walleye

I'm fishing walleyes in a river from the bank and I'm using the G. Loomis WPJR 821s GLX for exactly what it was intended. WPJR = Walleye Pitching Jigs Rod. I fish small jig heads/plastics primarily. It's a Mag-Light 1-power rod and rated 1/16-5/16 ounce lure weight which seems about right. It's not super powerful but with 10# braid and light-wire hooks I get great hook penetration and can land any fish by being patient and playing them carefully. This rod may not be powerful enough for some of the other techniques you mentioned, though it excels at pitching light jig heads!

I have done a lot of walleye fishing over the years. This was my favorite 2 piece eye rod. It covers all techniques & excels at everything. It will handle double digit walleyes with ease.
