1/2 hour of awesomeness

Featured Replies

Today I had to install a wood stove and chimney in a cottage on an island on Georgian Bay, just out from where I live. I was done a bit early, so I decided to try out a hump that I‘ve had my eye on for a while and not had the chance to hit yet. Boy am I ever glad I did! It tops off at 25’ and drops to over 80’ on all sides, and I figured it’d be a good spot for smallmouth to load up on and gorge on gobies, especially this time of year.

I only had about a half hour to fish before I had to go pick up the kid from school, so out came the drop shot rod and a pack of Berkley Maxscent Flatworms.
In 30 minutes I got over 30 bass, over half of them were better than 3lbs, several over 4 and one right at 5lbs on the rapala digital scale. It was a fish on pretty much every drop, and man did they ever put up a good fight.
I guess I’ll have to find some more “work” to do out there this fall ?

Yeah, for some reason my bass selfies are loading upside down, guess I need to hold my phone the other way next time ?. Maybe a mod can flip them for me ??

Wow!  Those are some nice smallies.  A spot like that is awesome, but I have a different word for it:  Waypoint!

Great day on the water @Way north bass guy, bet you were saying to yourself I wish I'd fished this sooner. I think the last two pics of those big, brown bass @Hammer 4 is a way of saying “it was so easy, I could do it standing on my head”. ?

Beauty fish brother, Georgian Bay is heaven on earth. I caught my PB smallie in Collins Bay, and we do really well in Deep Bay. We should try to connect next summer when the ice is out.

Holy Toledo! What color flat worm were you using? Looks like the white one or white/brown?

Were you able to see the fish on your sonar or were they belly down in the rocks?

That will be a day to remember. Glad you got some pics of the fatties!! Thanks for sharing, what a fun day!

Natural Shad was the colour, but I’ve done equally well with most of their colours. Doesn’t seem to matter what colour it is most times with the Maxscent, it’s like crack for smallies around here ?. Most of the fish were fairly tight to bottom but I could see some just off bottom, and every time I brought one up, it had several followers come with it.
