Bass fishing in December

Featured Replies

I've got some free time before or after Xmas and I'm thinking about taking a trip for some guided bass fishing (I live in Illinois).  I was assuming that I'd need to fly to Florida for a high-percentage chance at good bass fishing.  What is the fishing like in December at Nickajack, Guntersville, or Seminole?  I'd love to try all of those.

Big, I have no idea other than Florida would be better than Illinois anytime of the year.

Have a fun trip and let us know how you did.

Post pics.

Be safe.

December is far and away my favorite month to fish . Nickajack is always tough but can be rewarding, you can still fish hollow body frogs on grass some decembers. No joke. Up below the dam downtown there are big largemouth smallmouth and spots, stripers, and world class catfish ing. Guntersville is much more massive but its just the next lake downriver so it should be similar

I've driven across it several times and I think it's beautiful.  I really want to fish it but I'm not sure if I'm up for a "tough" prospect around Xmas when I can fly straight from here to the St. Johns River in Fla and have a guide take me out for guaranteed Sunshine bass.  I'm feeling lazy!  LOL

i live in mississippi ... south mississippi ... we do get cold snaps ... very cold ... from time to time ... but most of the time ... it's reasonably pleasant if clothed properly ...
