Reel Covers

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 19' Antares 70 and Bantam MGL, both left handed. I'm looking for nice reel covers for them, for when they are mounted on rods. Any suggestions?

I use the Shimano reel covers on all of my bait casters.  Appear to be well made and holding up for the last three years. Amazon and other national tackle companies have them.  Just be sure you order the right size.

I use the TW ones. I had the Shimano ones and they are nice but the TW ones seem to be thicker and the velco strap works better IMO.

Do you want reel cover with line pass through? I’m not sure if shimano reel cover have that option. Do you care to show your brand of reel? I use cheap, similar to rod glove reel cover sold on TW.

If you want shimano brand, I found that the reel cover that come with my aldebaran mg7 is perfect for cover reel when mounting on rod with lure tie, ready to be fish. It might be hard to fine.

I've used the basspro brand ones for years. The tw covers are kind of a pain to put on some reels for me. I cut a slit in the top for the line to go thru and they're like 5 bucks a piece.

What I use.  Helps to buy a few when you buy a reel from them.  Pay $2.99 each instead of $5.99.  I've always had a few reels purchased elsewhere that need covers.  I never buy just one reel cover when buying a reel from TW.

TW covers here too..

All of my baitcaster reel covers are from TW. I bought them during the Holiday sales.

Most of my reels are shimanos.

I use both the shimano and TW covers.

With the shimano covers, I cut a slit at the front for the line. With the TW covers, I haven't done that because there's some extra seams woven into the cover that may come unraveled.

An issue I've had with the shimano covers is that there's some kind of glue that hold the seams together. In hot weather (I'm in the South)sometimes the glue will melt off the cover and get on the reels. It's kind of a pain to get off. Not all the covers do it, but I've had a few to have this glue issue.

The TW covers are a liitle smaller so I use them for smaller reels. The shimano covers are better for mid size to slightly larger reels.

Shimano also makes round reel covers which I use on my Calcuttas and Conquest. I alternate between those and the round reel covers from Academy Sports. Both are good, but the ones from Academy are cheaper in  price.

I have a bunch (spinning and baitcaster) from Tackle Warehouse, Field and Stream, Kastking and Lew’s. They all serve their purpose of protecting reels from bumps.

Have both the BPS and TW. Both are good. The TW are a little snugger. I use them mainly for covering reels in the garage between outings.

Thanks everyone. I ended up buying the TW ones.

Yeah, another vote for the TW covers.
