What are some good low profile reels that are good for swimbaits on a 7,6 heavy rod for under $140?

How heavy do you want to throw.? Low profile is o.k. for lighter baits say up to 2.5 oz or so, anything heavier, and then I'd go with at least a 300 size reel.  4 to 6 oz, then a 400.

If you’re on the lighter end of baits (<2oz) the daiwa tatula 200 has been working like a champ for me this year.

I’m throwing baits less than 2.5-3oz on a Curado K. I know you can get em used around $125-140

 

A lot of bigger/wider reels just feel uncomfortable in my hand. A Tranx is probably in my future for >3 oz baits, though

I toss 8 inch hudds,bullshooter 160s, and deps 175s on a Curado K 200. Handles them just fine

Curado K, Tatula HD(older model), Tatula 200, and plenty more. 

Daiwa Lexa 300 WN is what I use - I have 2 of them and got both off Amazon for 130 dollars

Did daiwa fix the lexa 300 clutch problem? There were a lot of complaints about the clutch engaging mid cast a while back

There are some deals out there on Tatula HD/150/200 reels. I've been nothing but impressed with the entire Tatula series

I have only had that happen once and I am pretty sure it was because I was trying to bomb an inline spinner as hard as I could throw.  With bigger baits you don't cast very hard so I have never had that problem.  

 

They work great and I put about 100 hours on the 2 of them this year.

My brother got a new 300 earlier this year and had nothing but hate for it because of the clutch problem. He sent it packing.

So many reports about this, glad i held off on buying one. I wish daiwa would make a tatula in a 300 size, I’d be on that like a monkey on a banana

Most anglers using larger size swimbaits prefer reels with enough line capacity to accommodate 150+ yards of 20 lb (.018D) line. 200 size low profile reels usually have less then 110 yards of 14 lb mono (.015D). 

The lures are over 2 oz weight tend to break off during a backlash using too small diameter line including braid.

For this reason swimbait anglers use 300 & 400 size baitcasting reels.

Break off a few expensive lures because of using small diameter line it cost you more then buying the right size reel to start with.
