Baitcaster to throw light tackle, but not BFS

Featured Replies

Abu Garcia Black, Silver or Pro Max and I even think the Revo's. You can buy upgraded bearings and a 9 gram spool for BFS for about $30 on Alliexpress. REEL TEST on youtube has some videos of this.

Interestingly at 3/16oz my Fuegos are sketchy but cheap reels like the Silver Max sling them.

I can throw 1/8 oz spinnerbaits and 1/10 oz head Ned rigs with a Curado 70( 10 lb mono) and a Revo ALX( 10 lb fluorocarbon). As stated above the rod is very important in casting lighter baits.

I was looking at the curado 70 and they are sold out at must reputable online stores :(

I’m definitely digging my alpha ct Sv for light rigs like you describe. It’s not a crazy expensive reel either. But for .25oz pretty much any reel can toss a compact bait like a jig, it’s when you toss a air resistant bait like a Jerkbait where problems can arise. And as others have said the right rod is probably a bigger part of the equation.

What he says!

I have the Steez CT SV which is essence the same reel as the Alpha CT! Great reel that can throw anything for me from 1/16 to 1 oz

Hold your horse, you don’t need to hurry to buy stuffs. Next time when you visit me, I’ll have you tried all my setup that capable of true weight 1/16oz to 1/4oz. Reel is one thing but rod is equally important for light stuffs.

Im also selling my SLX MGL (Japan version) or you might be able to snag one of Curado 70 from me (I have 4) or even my daiwa Alphas SV.

You need a thin, light rod that can load up with the weight you’re throwing.
