CBD revistited

Featured Replies

My elderly conservative parents have both tried CBD for a few reasons. Older folk can come around, especially if the pain is bad enough.

My step-dad is very old school, old Kansas boy. He was always against weed but he's tried CBD for pain. He's also a Christian - he said "God made weed, right?" Hey, whatever allows it to be okay in your mind.

What does "never done drugs" mean? No alcohol ever either, no pain killers after surgery (opium! now that's a drug)? Ibufrofen? He probably means them d**n hippie drugs.

"Never done drugs" is a hurdle you may not be able to get the old man over. It's just ignorance and deeply ingrained bias, but it's very powerful. And what would his friends think if they found out? That's probably the biggest part of it.

But then again, you can't usually reason someone out of their long held beliefs.

Gosh we could really get into all the comparisons of kinds of meds or little nuances of the CBD's.  Weather they are legal....it's all like politics....not cut and dried....no put intended.

I was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer a little less than a year ago...was told to get my bucket list together...won't go into great detail as my eye's don't like to stare at a screen very long.  I use the legal CBD and you would have to pry them out of my cold dead fingers as they have helped with pain, eating, stress in a very suttle way.  It's not like taking an advil or anything....it just does it's job.

Like drinking coffee...use it...love it....CBD....use it...thankful for it.

Fighting cancer is a wild ride....I'm hopefully will be standing till the end...the brain does crazy things after sixty stitches....wish your dad all the best...we all choose our roads...hope his goes smooth.

And the side effects of many prescription drugs are nothing to laugh at either.

"Get rid of toe nail fungus NOW with JamBeGone! Possible side effects are stomach cramps, sudden death, agonizing painful death, regular ol' death, suicidal thoughts and murderous rage and headaches"

Pot and CBD side effects are feeling better, short term...umm....gimme a minute I forgot, but I know it's short term!

I don't worry about whether CBD works or not.  I just smoke pot.

Good point, because THC always works  ?

Good for you both....the pollen in the pot doesn't side well with my brain cancer .... causes swelling...will have to stick to other means

The problem with the flower is that no doctor or nurse will tell you to smoke anything, thus cbd with thc is very good for some people - Like ON, I don't want to go through 50 different version of what thc cbd will work for the wife, but will bit the bullet soon enough.

My dad’s arthritis is getting really bad and he has expressed an interest in trying cbd.  I get mine the old fashioned way and don’t know anything about the various isolates.

Would any of you guys who found a product they like be willing to PM me the name of it and where you got it from? He’s open to both topical and oral methods, but I’d like to steer him toward something that at least anecdotally isnt snake oil.  We live in a state with medicinal marijuana and he’s going to talk to his doctor about it but it’s a fairly lengthy process to get hooked up with it and he would like to try something sooner to see if it’s worth pursuing before he makes the doctors office visits.

thanks guys!

Personal would be hesitant to recommend over the counter myself.  Am not licensed or an expert to recommend.  I got lucky with a good friends recommendation along with some CBD candies I take once in awhile.  I have since done more reading and would probably not buy from a gas station or similar but go to several shops and ask questions and do a little reading.  From what I understand some work...some not so much....also it's supposedly not going to kill ya...it just works or not and it is very subtle...not like taking an aspirin.  You may have to try a couple kinds....we are all built different.  An example may be....you look at a half dozen shops...there's several customers at a couple and the place looks clean at a couple...other shops...not so much...you pick!?  Anyway...good luck to Dad....all the best.  Nothing good is usually easy....

Now Docs office...that is in your hands...that's a can of worms and road I ain't walking for many reasons.

I have had very good results with PlusCBD's Gold Formula in gelcap form - it is a good quality full spectrum extract.

This stuff is legal OTC. I get mine from the local food co-op but they are legal to order online as well.

Doesn't irritate my sensitive stomach, and definitely helps with muscle/joint pain and insomnia.

Took my first dose of cbd oil today. Tastes like stale olive oil. We'll see if it helps with arthritis.

Good luck brother

CBD + Glucosamine does wonders for my iffy knees, ankles and hips.

I ruined mine through years and years of trail running with barefoot running shoes, combined with overtraining on deep squats and heavy deadlifts at the gym.

Younger me had no idea the human body was not built to handle regularly running very long distances on uneven terrain while carrying an extra 20 - 30 lbs of lean mass ?

Best of luck, it has helped my folks' arthritis a ton. Make sure to keep it in your mouth as long as you can to get the full effect.
