Googan Brand Rods?

Featured Replies

Just by looking at the titles of their video's I'm amazed by how many "unintended" altercations they get in.  On the water, on the shore, in hotels, in airports............but I'm sure it's innocent and they didn't mean it..........lol

How that became a badge of honor is a mystery to me.

I thought that it already was....I used to hear the guys on the Tuna fishing show refer to the hordes of clueless weekenders who don't know or follow the rules as Googans. My guess is that these twerps picked up on it and thought it fit them and would be a clever way to wave their delinquency in everybody's face..

It’s not already? Oops

As for going on private property, zero tolerance. Anyone who says it's okay to do has never owned property. Is it cool if someone comes and hangs out in your back yard? It's not, just like it's not cool to sneak onto someone's land to fish their pond or lake. It's really frustrating that they're portraying it as cool and laughing about it and playing dumb when they get caught because then their followers think the same way.

I couldn’t agree more.

As far as the Googan Rods go they sold out on their pre-order. Won’t be available again until December. They have 2 versions a “green” one that costs around $100 and a “gold” version that is around $150 I believe I heard someone say in a vid they are 30 and 40 ton blanks.

for $100 I would rather buy a St Croix Triumph and for less than $150 I would buy a Lew’s TP1 Black before I purchase a Googan Rod.

Googan’s are annoying but they have a recipe that works across social media platforms. They grind out building a fan base and post consistently on an almost daily basis. Nonetheless, they are building interest in fishing and I’m thankful for  it. There are definitely more educational channels but they are too informative and stale to capture the attention of younger audiences. If someone loves the hobby, then they will eventually “graduate” from the Googans.

Why do so many people say they appreciate that they build interest in fishing? IMO, they attract a lot of disrespectful kids, who have to yell and scream "Let's Go" every time they catch a fish. Having said that, I really don't mind the Googan Squad, they are doing their thing and I'm not a hater.

After this past season and all the people the Virus has brought out to crowd the fisheries, I want less people taking an interest in fishing.

I hear you man, I've almost had to throw down 3 times this summer because people want up inches beside me to fish where I was just casting only because I caught a fish, I catch them trying to see what I'm throwing so they can try and use something similar. Just not cool. I hate telling people to take a hike but man its so pressured now.

Googan....

This same topic continues to appear here every few months.  Same thing always happens:

  1. Most people don't like them
  2. A few will chime in defending them
  3. Eventually somebody says something "really mean" about them
  4. Fur starts to fly

Ironically, it seems to mirror their M.O. But IMO, controversy is not a good thing for our sport, especially when it's contrived.

So...before this thread spirals down the drain like all the others, let's put a fork in it and call it "done".
