Looking for a small piece of carpet

Featured Replies

I am going to extend the front deck on my 87 winner 17" to give me more room on the front deck and for tackle storage. The issue I have is what to cover it with as I said it's an 87 winner and I don't plan on re carpeting the boat but would like to find something close to the color that's in there. So I'm checking to see if anyone has re carpeted there boat and has some scrap pieces left over or knows where I can find some scrap pieces. I need 1 pc 12"x48" and 1 pc 20"x48" close to this color.

If anyone else has done something similar to this and has other idea options I'm open for suggestions

Trying to match the color of your carpet may be tough, but I often got pieces of carpet from the dumpsters behind carpet stores where they threw out the leftover pieces.

Even coming close to the color is probably not going to happen,  30 years of UV bleaching is not going to be matchalbe You probably won't even find one of the same texture.  Boat carpets have changed a ton from the early days of bass boats.

If you don't won't to do the whole boat, just find something you think you can live with.

Yeah I know I'm not going to fine the same carpet but I did something from Cabelas that is close to what my carpet used to be.

I would probably not try and match the carpet and just go with some DIY truck bed liner in black. Makes a nice textured non-slip surface to deal with. Black and red isn't a bad color combo either. Black carpet would work too if you wanted to stay with carpet.

My boat is green and I will be adding some storage as well. I plan to just do the add-on in bed liner. Function over fashion if you know what I mean.

That's not a bad idea. I'm going to have to look into that.

DO NOT do a deck in black if you plan to fish during the summer.  It will be a virtual frying pan, and you will be the one getting cooked.

I will not be using black! I was looking to see if you can get a similar material in other colors that will bond to PVC.

I also recommend not trying to match it.  It will look worse with an inevitable mismatch than with a neutral color that doesn't clash, like grey.  Grey is available everywhere.

Got my little project finished and installed today. I think I'm going to like this. And while I was at it I made a small storage box to go between the seats.
