Weighted Wacky Hooks?

Featured Replies

I’ve tried the nail weights for wacky rigs, but would like to get some weighted hooks for another wacky option. Mainly for 5” Senkos. What are some of the best ones out there?

Until I can get some I had the idea of crimping a split shot on a regular wacky hook just below the eye. Would this work?

Crimping works.  Bullet makes a small pinch on conical weight thqt works on the line just above the knot.  For all but the fattest plastics, not much better than the Zappu Inchi wacky jig for weighted wacky hooks.

I've been using the Gamakatsu g-finesse wacky jigheads.  Actually on sale right now at TW for the Classic.

I have been very happy with the Revenge Flippin wackers.   They have a more stout hook, light brush guard, a great shaped hook.  I stocked up in case they ever go away.  Have one tied on almost always.

I've been happy with the ones VMC makes. Haven't lost a fish on em, yet.

Lake fork's hooks come with a weighted metal ring. Ring is in different weights. No more fiddling with o-rings and the baits last longer too. The lightest ring is like 1/32. I use the rings with whatever hook I feel like using, weighted or unweighted hooks like the ones mentioned above. Goes up to 3/16 using their heads.

Most of the time when I want a weighted wacky approach I use the Falcon K-wacky weedless weighted hooks.   90% of the time I use the 1/16 oz size.

Ended up getting a few packs of these. They look good for Senkos.

Also got a couple packs of Owner Ultraheads. The hook are kind of small for Senkos, but I’ll try them on smaller baits.

Like @txchaser, I use the Lake Fork lead collars for wacky rigging.  I use them with either a 4 or 5 inch Senko.  It makes a Senko last a ton longer than even o-rings or shrink wrap tubing.  I think there are better hooks for this, but the collars slip over practically any hook, so you can use your Trokars or whatever.  The action is different than sticking nails in the ends, but the bass still seem to eat them.

Looks more like a jika rig than a wacky jig.  Looks a little weird to do the flick shake thing with, but probably not gonna do that with a senko any way.  I don't like the idea weight jingling around the knot, though.  Maybe it's not a problem.

Meh, I can do the same with a DS rig, and be able to adjust the length of the dropper.  This hook/weight doesn't address any problem I face.  Good to know its out there, but it isn't a wacky jig.  I'm sure you can catch fish with it, just like the million other things I don't have in my tackle box.  Sort of reminds me of a Tokyo rig, in it's usefulness.

Also, I'd like to add this little tidbit: wacky jig as your hook on a DS rig.  Think about it.  It's bad. ?

owner ultra head weighted wacky hooks are fantastic and sticky as anything i've ever fished. can't recall ever losing a fish on one

A nice option of weighted wacky rig for me is to use eco pro tungsten wacky weight 1/32 and 1/16oz. I can adjust on the fly, changing from 5” senko to finesse worm and fish at the same depth or deeper. I also sometime just add split shot to the hook itself to add a little more weight.

I still have quite a few of weighted hook but hardly use it anymore, owner weedless and vmc weedless are the only one I use.
