Yes that's what I saying. It will slow your reaction time down. You will have to reel down to tighten the line then swing for the fences.

that is a good way to get used to the proper technique

Do yourself a favor if you want to fish frogs and put one of these on your frog, they bite, you reel, done.

I used to miss a lot too.  I switched to a moderate action rod and now I miss very few.

I reel down fast and make sure my hooks are sticky sharp.  Still miss occasionally.

There is the punish method-

Do 20 push ups every time you set the hook too fast

Get a leather flogger and give yourself a couple whips everytime you set it too fast

 

There's the reward method-

Have a cookie each time you wait to set the hook

Buy yourself a new lure each time you wait to set the hook

 

On a side note your choice will let us know what generation you're from lol

Except for those who enjoy that type of thing - they'd be 'setting the hook' soon as the frog hits the water...maybe even before it hits.
