High end rod discounts?

Featured Replies

I have been looking at getting another NRX or possibly a Conquest spinning rod. What would you guys consider a decent discount of MSRP?  I have heard some people getting 30-35% at shows.  Is that common?  As long as I am asking anyone have any thoughts on the Conquest 902s?  Thanks in advance.

Shows can get great discounts but its mostly on product being discounted. For example, the old E6X, Veritas rods, etc.

Goodluck with that. At shows, like Efishin said you can get a deal but it's not usually on new product. Usually on discontinued product or product in the process of being phased out.

My buddy works at a shop and G Loomis is striking down on pricing from what he told me. Go and talk to your local dealer or look for used NRXs if you want to get a deal.

Those may be rep samples, which don't have a warranty as well.

Rep samples purchased from an authorized dealer carry the full manufacturer's warranty.

G.Loomis Limited Lifetime Warranty

*Please see the Bottom of the page for Downloadable PDF Warranty Forms*

G. Loomis rods are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty against non-conformities in workmanship and materials for the life of the original owner. GL push poles, Venture (Adventure) fly reels, and GL fly rod outfits are covered against non-conformances in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Premier Rods (PMR) are covered against non-conformances in workmanship and materials for a period of two years from date of purchase. Demo rods are not covered under warranty. Sales receipt or proof of purchase required.

Some of them are marked. Some aren't. Rep sample and demo rods are the same in my book. Best bet is to call G Loomis. Corona virus will have this question on hold lol. Hope y'all are all stay safe!

My first Conquest was more then 35% off MSRP. It was brand new from a authorized dealer. Finding a deal like that was due to an end of season sale at a small shop that needs to clear floor space for winter stuff. They do it every year but it is limited to what they have on hand.

They also sell ”demo” rods and they normally are 50% off MSRP. That's normally the end of summer after reps should them off for the season.

Finding something for more then 20% off in spring seems like hunting for a unicorn that lays golden eggs.

To each their own, but 20% off is still an OK price to me.

I have the Conquest 902S and like it quite a bit. I don't like where the hook keeper is as I normal point my finger towards the rod tip and tend to jam my finger tip into the keeper when I set the hook. Kinda of and oddly specific complaint though so probably not a problem for most.

There is no standard of pricing. It all depends on the dealer, your relationship with them, etc.

Sometimes certain companies have deals. Create a good relationship with your dealer and it will pay off

I went to the Indy Boat Sport and Travel Show and picked up an NRX for, I think it was around, $300-$350 and they also had the Conquest for around $400.  It was just a show special. They were the regular rods, not a demo, or rep. rod.  They have the full manufactures warranty.
