  1. Sounds like 5by3 agrees as well as others. Nrx is the standard for a reason. Like it or not.
  2. Alx doesn't make a rod NRX level sensitive. No if, ands, or buts about it. We understand you like the rods but you are claiming with no validity behind your claims. I have fished both and I don't find this to be true whatsoever. I have fished every high-end, and I mean every high end rod (K2, Legend Xtreme, Destroyer, Xtasy, Steez AGS). While they are excellent and the NRX reigns supreme in the sensitivity department. Doesn't mean I like it the most but the NRX is more sensitive.
  3. Metanium is a magnesium frame. Bantam is a aluminum frame. The Metanium utilizes more bearings over the Bantam. Plus the MGL III spool in the Metanium. Personally I always bring my decision based on reels to balance and how you plan to utilize it. Both have brass bears but I prefer the Bantam for heavier duty tasks due to the aluminum frame.
  4. I think it happens a ton. Could be a possibility for sure
  5. I think there pro staff floods the internet with positive feedback. The tapers, build quality and balance are nice. The sensitivity is just underwhelming. I would suggest Dobyns to use a higher end blank.
  6. It truly is sad that he does it but very true. No shops near me will carry Dobyns because of that. They all dropped them Alx still hasn't learned you can't compete against your dealers. My local dealer won't pick alx up due to that..
  7. And... The Expride is superior than both ALX and Dobyns offerings at the same price range. The Exprides fish well above there price ranges.
  8. No problem buddy. Have to see shipping. I don't mind at all. Great shape too I'm sure some people will love the rods, just prefer my others.
  9. Yep. Braid cuts me in the joints of my fingers all the time when I pull on it.
  10. Live in South Ga. Also its in the tail end of April. Water temps are 70 already. You must live with Santa Claus. Wrap my presents tight ?
  11. What is strange is that I have lost fish from throwing the frog mid fight but like 1 in 100. Usually when I miss them its from the original hookset. Rare to hook up and them throw it. Yet today, 5 of them... I saw every single fish 2.5-3.5 lbs. I just can't seem to understand. I understand somedays aren't your day. Is it safe to say just one of those weird bite days and a case of tough luck??
  12. XG Tatula. A few people told me that in dirty heavily stained water they can have a hard time pin pointing the frog and they slap at them which is why hookup % goes down. Any thoughts to that? Every fish we caught (even on spinnerbait) were barely hooked.
  13. Started off this morning fishing a spro popping frog (black) in some clearish backwater (river is muddy). I use a frog quite a bit and alway had good success. Use a 7'3 H, 65 lb braid, locked drag, let them blow up reel slack and swing when I feel them. Well today was among the most frustrated I've ever been and never experienced anything like this. Today they would blow up and eat it, set the hook and get them coming to the boat and they would jump and throw the frog. VERY rare has this happened to me. Depressed lol Any tips?? Talked to a buddy and he said somedays it just happens. Wonder if the stained water could have played a factor as they are keying on the bait as much. But then I think well I had them for a bit....
  14. Yes however lure ratings are often times misleading and not accurate IMO. For example, Duckett doesn't provide line and lure ratings. For example, Phenix rates there X series 7 Heavy to 3 oz crankbaits, which in my opinion is way off. G Loomis rates ther 845 CBR IMX Pro to 1 oz crankbaits and in no way would I throw anything over 1/2 oz on. Another example is Dobyns rates there Xtasy 755 to 1.5 oz and has noticeably less power than the GLX 895C, which is rated to 1 oz. There is no true system unfortunately. Best things are to research, ask, and try to get your hands on the rods. Exactly!
  15. Where do you live with that type of winds lol. Brutal weather. Be safe buddy
  16. FC does have better sensitivity. That's been a known fact. FC line transmit more energy than monofilament due to its molecular structure. It's also a much denser line thus it will sink. For example, on a cast, mono filament has additional slack in the line due to the bow created in the line. So unless WRB fishes with cane poles, that's 100% incorrect. Go try it for me, go try it and put a big bow in your line and have someone flick it. Repeat the process on a semi slack or tight line holding the rod and let me know if you can feel a difference. This is basic stuff...
  17. Never heard of Cortland braid. How does it compare to Powerpro?
  18. Another great reel is the Daiwa Regal! Take a look at that one
  19. SV is excellent for skipping Hahah guess I need to practice slapping people lol just kidding. ?
  20. There is no standard of pricing. It all depends on the dealer, your relationship with them, etc. Sometimes certain companies have deals. Create a good relationship with your dealer and it will pay off
  21. G.Loomis Limited Lifetime Warranty *Please see the Bottom of the page for Downloadable PDF Warranty Forms* G. Loomis rods are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty against non-conformities in workmanship and materials for the life of the original owner. GL push poles, Venture (Adventure) fly reels, and GL fly rod outfits are covered against non-conformances in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Premier Rods (PMR) are covered against non-conformances in workmanship and materials for a period of two years from date of purchase. Demo rods are not covered under warranty. Sales receipt or proof of purchase required. Some of them are marked. Some aren't. Rep sample and demo rods are the same in my book. Best bet is to call G Loomis. Corona virus will have this question on hold lol. Hope y'all are all stay safe!
  22. Abu Garcia gets a bad rap as most people prefer Shimano and Daiwa (me included). I bought two of them out on a limb and have been very impressed.I prefer the 5 gear ratio EXD to my Tatula 150P, which was surprising.
  23. Those may be rep samples, which don't have a warranty as well.
