What is a good automobile battery charger?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a automobile battery charger.  It will be used to keep my mother's car battery from dying while the car sits in the garage.  Is there a decent charger for around $50?  If so, what brand and model?  Thanks.

I got one from harbor freight, cen tech. It is about $50 and i can’t count how many times it’s been a life saver for me for my daughter’s car battery. It has a trickle mode that is handy when a batttery is practically dead.  It can also jump start a car. I reckon those two things might be standard features though.

Not sure what the whole situation is but I think you'd be better off driving the car once a week to keep both the battery charged and fluids circulated throughout the vehicles various systems.

Yes, I agree.  I am able to do that with my car, but this is my mother's car, and I'm not always available to do that.

We use some of those at the fire station and they have lasted longer than some of our newer more expensive brand (not throwing anything under the bus) ones.

Yep!

I grew up with Tony Schumacher. Used to hang out in Don Schumachers garage after school. Tony started his racing career at Great Lakes Drag Strip. Friday nights were high school drag nights.
