This rod specs as a great "all around" rod, and I'd really like to grab one, but I've heard the TATULA rods fish heavier than their rating? 

I throw 3/16 - 1/4 T rigs, 1/4oz shallow cranks and up to 3/8oz spinners. 

 

If the rod runs the high side of MH, or more like a H, it might be too much rod to throw these. 

 

Anyone with experience? 

My favorite rod in the Tatula line is the 6'10" MHF or the 7'1" HF.  I would say the 6'10" is close to its rating.  I throw 1/4 ounce baits no problem. I have that rod paired with a Tatula SV TW for skipping docks.

I don't currently use many MHs, so was worried if it was on the heavy side of the rating it might be too big of a step. Going to pair it with a Tatula 100. 

It's going to be heavier than a MF rod for sure.  I also have the 7'1" MHxF Tatula, it is rated the same as the 6'10" but has a real fast taper.  Nice tip on that rod.  It throws 1/4 fine too.  I use it mostly for light texas rigs, small jigs, and flukes at times.

Gotcha. So the 7'1 may be better a better fit for what I'm looking for? 

 

And for sure I realize it is heavier than a MF.... I meant if its heavy for a MHF.

thats the next setup on my list. deciding between those two rods. I want to be able to throw small frogs and jigs, small buzz toads etc. into cover mainly. which rod would you choose

 

wish they had a 6'10" h. im gonna use 40 lb braid. What do you use?

For frogs, jigs, I would get the Heavy.  I throw the smallest S-waver on it fine.

 

For the 6’10” MH I use 10-12 lb flouro.  For the 7’1” H, I use 12-14 lb flouro.

Glad yall got this threat going, I just ordered one from sportsmans yesterday morning.  Hehe.  My son is going to love it.  

The 6'10 Tatula was my first casting rod when I started fishing from banks. It will do a good amount of presentations. I struggled to toss true 1/4oz lures, but that was when I had a Tatula Type-R on it...before I found a love for SV reels. I bank fish with a Tatula Elite 7' M/MH and Alphas SV105 now and it does even more, such as ned rigs.

 

I'd say it will do everything you listed fine, except maybe the 1/4oz shallow cranks depending on what reel you put on it.

It'll wear a Tatula CT. 

As I've mentioned I have the 7' 1" MH Extra Fast & yes it's a little on the heavy side but that's expected for an extra fast.

 

With the 6' 10" being a fast you should be in range of what you're looking for.

I've had powell rods the past 8 years or so but I bought the 7'1 H tatula, and my goodness man, it's really sweet for the price.  I'm sold on the tatulas.  Only thing I dont like is the hook keeper, but the reel I have on it, has a built in place to hook.

They have a 7,1 mh xf. In the tatula.  They also have the fast.

7'1" MHxF I was speaking about was a Tatula.  They also make a 7'1" MHF, which I do not have.  The 7'1" HF is a Tatula that I was also talking about above.

I could just be missing something, but I guess Daiwas site just isn’t complete. The only XFs I see are spinning rods.

Yeah, the website shows 2 that are 7'1" MHF.  If you buy from SportsmansOutfitters, they have the MHxF rod in stock.

There are 2 listed at 7'1" MHF, but I am sure that is a mistake, the one I have is 7'1" MHxF model

Yes, I think I’m going to order the 6’10” from them today. 
 

I’ve got a 7’ M/F and a 7’ MH/F Carbonlite 2.0 coming, so hopefully the the 6’10” Tat will compliment them well.  (Yes I’ve gone a bit nuts this week updating my gear but YOLO I guess). 

Dude, that rod will be far away better than what you have.  Put some 30-50 # braid on it and use a leader if u want.  Take it out and you will see.  If I ever gaze my powells out, I'll get some more tatulas... my son is getting to where he likes my rods, so daddy (me) might get new ones.
