Favorite hook for ball head jigs

Featured Replies

What jig hook do you like for ball head jigs in the 1/8th  to 1/4th oz size?  I will be using the jigs for 4" swimbaits such as Keitech Swing Impact.  2/0 hook.  Thanks for any advice.

Being located in central Florida, I'm limited to the cantankerous Florida-strain bass.

The parameters you provided point me more to smallmouth bass:

> Keitech 3.8” Fat Swing | Gamakatsu 3/8 oz Round Jighead | 3/0 hook

I like to use the guppy head from, dirty jigs.. Great hook.. The keitech tungsten ball head is a great jig and I often use just a good ole lead head jig with a gamma hook.. I fish mainly for smallmouth so I make sure to use lighter wire hooks..

I like ec lil nastys. Their sticky. If u are looking for a heavier wire, sure @smalljaw67 has some favs. He seems to favor owners and mustads in his videos on youtube

I like the Mustad 32746.  Strong and sharp.  I'm sure there's better, but these are great at the price point.  I use these for all ballheads for plastics and also do a lot of jig tying on them.

It depends on the situation. The Lil Nasty is what I like to use for lighter heads, 1/16oz to 1/8oz, fished on a medium or medium light power spinning rod with 6lb to 8lb line. For general use with 8lb to 12lb line on medium power spinning or casting I like the Owner 5313, 1X strong and wicked sharp, one of the best 90 degree jig hooks there is.

I use both 2/0 and 3/0. The funny thing with that hook is there isn't a big difference between the 2/0 and 3/0 size.

Thanks.  That was one I was considering.
