Last year I developed confidence and skill in jigs. And now,

I primarily just fish with jigs. There's been a complete shift in how I've approached bass fishing. Before you would find my with spinning gear 75% of the time because I like finesse fishing. Now I'm 99% power fishing on casting gear with jigs. My numbers of fish caught hasn't changed much, but the size has increased a lot. Honestly with experience jigs don't feel too much different than Texas Rigs.

A lot of the time jig is what I start with and what I end with.  I start with one because I like to quickly target high-probability cover first to see if I can get some easy fish and a jig can be fished more or less anywhere.  I end with one as if I am not catching anything, then at least dragging a jig across the bottom counting rocks is kinda fun in it's own way.

My jig experience has been somewhat similar to yours.

In the past, I used spinning outfits almost exclusively, which I used for jigs, swimbaits, hollow frogs~

That's really not as brave or as crazy as it might sound.

The spine on my spinning blanks were more powerful than the average casting blank.

Okay, I LOVE jigs, but always start with a Senko or Fat Ika.

I've always used casting and spinning gear when "appropriate" but the Wacky, Ned, and weightless Trick Worm were what I used 75% of the time because they just work. I've learned you can also get numbers AND size with jigs. It's about placement and confidence.

I’m addicted to jig fishing as well. Probably because I’ve always been a trout spin fisherman. It’s a quick method, gets reaction strikes and has a lot of casting that requires high accuracy.  Simply put, it’s just fun and it’s satisfying when you know getting bit is heavily dependent on you making the cast.
