Can you flip and pitch with a spinning rod or just a baitcaster? I can't figure out how to do either of them.

Yes you can, quite a few anglers do it with spinning tackle.

Yes, it can be done with spinning gear...the technique is not reel specific.

You can pitch with a spinning rod. Open the bail, and use your index finger to feather the line into your target. You could set up a target and practice with either outfit.

I pitched and even did some punching with a spinning rod for a while as all I had was spinning rods. It is more efficient (faster) with a bait caster, but the inshore spinning rod I was using had no issues. 

Yes, it was a primary technique for me. I just switched to baitcasters this year because the weight of a solid pitching/punching spinning outfit was starting to hurt my arm/back. Still think the technique is easier on the spinning reel but you have more control on the baitcaster.
