2020 Jdm Megabass P5 Destroyers

Featured Replies

Some retailers will be selling them. Does anybody have any opinions? I was looking at the x bites as an alternative to the nrx, conquest for jigs and worms. Am I crazy?

Do not ask that question on this forum. I found out the hard way long ago that we're ALL crazy here.     ???     jj

I am not a fan of an XF taper in heavier rods, if I were looking at a jig rod in the P5 line up I would go for the Tachyon Shift or Super Destroyer.  The SD also has a CF grip, which really interests me.

They look amazing...Retail is out of my price range but I'll be looking for them on the used market for sure :).  I like the Oneten Stick still being 6'5"...I love the X4 version.  I was bummed when the XX and Destroyer models were made longer.

The reason I was looking for fast or extra fast is I'm replacing my 893 that was underpowered in grass. I have the first 7'3 mh and 7'2h adrenas that are already mod fast

Fair point.  I believe there is first hand info about the X-Bites on TT somewhere,  if you have not seen it I can try and find it tonight and send you a link.

If you have Instagram, check out the post Ben from The Hookup Tackle put up last night. In it he goes over all the new models and I believe mentions the X-Bites being good for jigs in the mid size range.  I considered the X Bites myself but ended up going with the Dark Sleeper and Super Destroyer.

What's his instagram name or was it just the hook up tackle?

Did you end up making a decision? That x-bites rod definitely sounds cool

Butt end is too small for my liking. They'd be difficult for me to comfortably cast.

Is hookup tackle an authorized Megabass retailer?  If not I would go with The Tackle Trap just to be able to speak with them if something were to happen to the rod and let them handle the replacement process.

Hookup is authorized. Probably the #2 dealer in the states, behind the Trap

I'm holding off because it sounds like the nrx might be getting an upgrade. Honestly, I'd have replaced my rod with a current 894c but you can't get one

Shimano offered me a conquest in replacement of my nrx but I already have adrenas which are more of a mod fast or fast action. My nrx was my dedicated jig rod and that's what I want to replace it with. I was going to go with the conquest 904c but decided against it.

What route did you end up going? I'm in the same boat trying to decide xbites or 893 to go with my 894. Not opposed to a conquest either.

I am kind of curious how this all went down as well.

I have been debating between the 844C Conquest, an 854 NRX or a Megabass Super Destroyer.  I will be using it for bigger jigs and small (1.25oz at the most) swimbaits.

I have the super destroyer albeit limited use, I don't think it's capable of heavy jigs, especially 3/4 and up

I ended up with the steez bottom contact rod and I'm very happy. I couldn't find ways to keep the 893 in my hands. It's a special rod but it's tip heavy nature required a bantam weight reel and I didn't like it.

Ok went a total different route. I'm struggling to decide which route to go. Leaning xbites.

I pulled the trigger on the Xbite today. Even though it's extra fast, I saw a xbite video review on youtube by punchfishing. It has a really soft tip and I couldn't resist. I currently use my 7'3" MH posion adrena has my texas rig/jig rod, so I'm exicted to compare the sensitivity. Apparently the xbite has NRX sensitivity.

the 7'3 MH PA and the X-Bites are also in my close group of considered rods for a senko and 3/8oz JIg + trailer applications.

How do you compare the X-Bites with the PA. Any significant difference in sensitivity, performance?

Thanks!

Was finally able to go out and try out my new x-bite the last week. I rigged up both my PA and x-bites with 3/8 jigs, same reel and line. Obviously subjective, but the xbite was a little more sensitive imo. I could just feel the bottom much better with the x-bite.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this test!

I went a different direction. I ordered a NRX 893c for the technique in question and a Megabass Tachyon Shaft, since this seems to be the most sensitive rod in the Megabass line up (or so they claim) and it is great for kayak fishing.

Have not received either but will report back, once I have.
