SH Super heavy power?

Featured Replies

Hello!

I live in Japan where there are a lot of snakeheads. I am looking to buy a rod and found one that says SH (super heavy) rating for its power.

I was wondering is that even a thing? Here is the link.

Never heard of super heavy, but have heard of XH & XXH.    Disregard these terms and look at the line & lure weight ratings for the rods you looking at.

Thank you. Line rating is 65-100 I’m guessing it is a xx heavy then? This is a snakehead specific rod.

Oops sorry read wrong. Line starting lb is 18

Iv'e heard of MAG Heavy.  Dobyns 6 powers.

Yep - which brings the Dobyns up to the same lure range as my Diawas

Diawa Heavy - 3/8 to 1-1/2

Dobyns Mag-Heavy - 3/8 to 1-1/2

Dobyns is actually all over the board with their ratings. A 5 power could be Heavy (1/4-1), Mag-Heavy (3/8-1&1/2) or Med-Heavy Flip (1/4-2)

  • Lure:5/8oz
  • Line:16lb PE #6-10

Specs I pulled from the link. This doesn't look very "super".

Stick with well known brand fishing equipment. Much less guess work.

Sorry for late reply. I found out Super heavy is Japanese word for Extra heavy. Haha go figure.
