Featured Replies

Looking to replace stock hooks on my walking baits and poppers with upgraded treble hooks  Currently I am considered Owner Stinger 36 treble hooks or Mustad Triple Grips ... What are your favorite replacement treble hooks for top water (*with braid main line) ?  ... Thanks in advance !

Any trebles I replace I do so with Owner ST-36 - they've been great so far, why change when it works.

*Thanks - yes , the Owner ST-36 hooks to be more precise is what I was considering (along with Mustad Triple Grips) ... The price is good on the Owner's , so I will try some in #2 and #4 to replace  stock hooks on Sexy Dawgs and One Knockers to try .

Owner treble hooks seem to be one of the most popular.  I use them but have also had great luck with any of the major name brands.  Trokars are about the only ones I stay away from because they seem to rip a huge hole into the fish.

I use mustard kvd, owner at-36bc’s, vmc 1x round bend.

the mustads are on 90% of my treble baits.  They are expensive but, available regularly as I need them locally.  Very Good hook and my hook up rate has went up.

the st-36bc’s I put on my small #5-7 stream trout/small river smallie rapala’s.  Another really good hook.  I don’t remember what I paid. Bought them on eBay

the vmc’s im trying out.  Bought like 6 boxes at bass pro this winter.  They are cheaper at $2.99.  I havnt used cranks or jerk baits much this year so far.  I don’t know how they have preformed yet.  I do have them on lures at the moment

Realize that if you have any Rapala, Storm or Luhr-Jensen crank/jerkbaits - you're already using VMC hooks. Rapala owns all those brands - and last year purchased 49% of 13Fishing.

They are still better than stock hooks that come on a lot of crank baits. Heck the stock hard ware on strike king XD series will rid and just looking at them.

I think all the rapala’s I have most have the mustads or the st-36’s. Most of my rapala’s are in the smaller sizes.  I don’t don’t run storm.  I use some luhr-Jensen  salmon fishing.

i thought rapala had owned vmc for a long time. Apparently not

Love me some gamakatsu g-finesse

Rapala picked up VMC in 2000.

Gamakatsu treble hooks were roughly $2.00 more per pack than Owner or Mustad - I don't see where they are worth the extra $$
