suspending vs. slow-rise jerkbaits

My favorite jerkbaits have been the Bomber Long A series; I've used them for years. They are rising lures. Has anyone experienced drastic differences in results between rising and suspending jerkbaits, especially post-spawn?   Thnx.     jj

Those Long A's come in suspending models too. I have 2-3 dozen of them. Everything in the water hits them!

Like you, I have used the rising models post spawn and always caught lots of fish without any pause at all just erratic jerking motions.

I've caught a lot of stupid pond bass absolutely slashing and reeling a jerkbait as hard as I can, and a lot of those jerkbaits have been the slow rise versions.  A jerkbait is one of my confidence baits from post spawn and through the heat of the summer all the way into the fall.

I don't pause this time of year!  I'm trying my best to annoy suspending, lethargic bass in deeper water or trying to cause enough commotion to have feeding fish pop out of grass and cover.

Hard to say, but I favor jerkbaits that sustain their depth on the pause (time spent in strike zone).

Actually, it's possible for a significant difference in water temperature

to make the difference between true suspension, gradual rising or gradual sinking.

Yes. I found that out the hard way.    ?    jj

I fish a Duo Rozante 77 all year long, it's a very slow riser.

During the cold water periods, a very slow sinker is better for me than a true suspending bait.

Pick one, I've got all of them.

Personal favorites are Neo Pearl, Violet Gill, and Matte Chartreuse. A couple others that I don't think they make anymore so won't bother listing them.
