Trying something new (to me)

Featured Replies

I recently got the idea to start throwing mini flipping jigs. Namely the SK Bitsy Flip jigs. I had some Zman TRD Crawz and thought they would be the perfect size and bulk for these little jigs and being buoyant the class would stand up and get some nice movement. So today I did some experimenting and this is what they look like!

You should get some good bites with those..Good luck..

That's a fine looking small jig combo...only way that don't get bit is if your fishing in a rain puddle...even then I'd hold on tight just in case.

That will not work. Prove me wrong. Awaiting pics.?

I dont have any green pumpkin or watermelon TRD Crawz for the green jig, but I'm wondering how the orange craw would look on that jig. If the Elaztech wasnt such a pain to get to stay on alot of bait keepers I would just take off the black and blue and try it. Elaztech is a blessing and a curse haha

Elaztech is famous for melting other types of soft plastic.  Jigs look great - for now.  Hope the elaztech doesn't melt the rubber skirt band or the skirt.  I don't know that it will because I have very little experience with that stuff.   Other than cutting a Strike King elaztech senko in half for a Ned rig, I have no experience using that stuff.

I do think that at the very least, the elaztech will eat up the rubber skirt band so I'd get some 20 or 26 gauge wire from a flower shop or Hobby Lobby and wire the skirt tight to the jig head and not depend on the rubber.  At the Michaels craft store I got some fabric covered 20 gauge wire and the way the wire is packaged it is kind of wasteful to use, but the cost is minimal.

I have a Zman elazteck paddletail on a rubber skirted archy head jig. It's been on there for weeks and hasn't melted anything yet. BTW, I've caught a lot of small mouth on it which is why it's still tied on.

It will work.

I started doing this with finesse jigs beginning this season.  It's become one of my go to rigs with the bass have lockjaw.

I have each of them in separate slots in in my boxes because of the melting. I'm hoping they dont react with silicone skirts but I never thought about the skirt bands. Getting some thin wire and wrapping them would be easy enough though.
