  2. I have both. The ICON is my goto treble hook bait BFS rod. The Seirra handles everything else.
  3. Is this the latest trend in JDM tackle? Inquiring minds want to know!
  4. I have no words, only a picture of misery and despair.
  5. It's that time of year when the water goes all hard, white and crunchy on top. I've heard that you can drill holes in the crunch stuff to get to the wet stuff underneath and keep on fishing. I've even heard that solid water falls from the sky also.
  6. I lift the bow onto the bed extender, then lift the stern and push it onto the bed. I'm 57, moderately active with an office job. I'm not 30 and finishing concrete. Yes, on the wheels.
  7. Bonafide SS127 user here. I use a bed extender with no issues. I just need to be aware of where the end of the kayak is if I have to reverse. Other than that, I don't worry about the overhang. I have a crew cab so a short bed.
  8. That's been my experience too. It's quite something to have a popper smashed in 15ft of water when fishing parallel to the bank.
  9. Don't underestimate the value of showing your fellow anglers that they aren't the only ones that suck! 😁
  10. I rotate baits, depths and locations until I get bit, then I fish around that depth, similar locations and similar baits until I don't get bit. Then I go back to the start.
  11. It very much does include the kayaks weight. From SS127 Kayak – Bonafide Fishing there is a note at the bottom: This is industry standard. Your view is a common misconception.
  12. ^^^ This There's a difference between putting a Bass in a live well for a few minutes while you set up the hero shot and carting 5 bass round in a live well for hours, banging them around for dozens of miles in the chop and releasing them miles from where they were caught.
  13. Having gone the cheap Master Airbrush route, I can recommend this as a very significant upgrade. https://www.amazon.com/NEO-Gravity-Feed-Action-Airbrush/dp/B004INERK4 You will also go through a lot of canned air, so a compressor is a worthwhile investment. If you already have one for nailguns etc. you can just add a moisture trap inline for the airbrush.
  14. I fell into the clutches of the bait marmoset 2 years ago. For those who don't know, the bait marmoset is the smaller relation to the bait monkey. He has more expensive tastes though. I find BFS is really productive for me on the clear lakes I have here when the bass are above 10 feet. I basically use all the same types of baits and techniques as regular bass fishing, just downsized. So downsized cranks, poppers, twitch baits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jigs, t-rigs, free rigs, small swimbaits and underspins etc. around the weights you are thinking about. So, all the same techniques I would normally use. Going deep is the only time I don't have a BFS rig in rotation.
  15. From the looks of it I doubt that is structural piece. Given the holes to increase surface area I'm going to guess it's the sacrificial anode.
  16. I've got 6 good years out of mine on my Tracker. They are getting replaced this winter when the hard water season arrives. Toying with going to lithium. All add one lithiumfor sure as a house battery, but might just stay with lead acids for the troller for boat balance reasons.
  17. So, I was moving some reels between rods tonight after tying a couple of different combos based on my assortment of rods and reels. I was pretty sure one of the reels was spooled with mono and the other with fluorocarbon. But I wasn't sure which was which. "I know" I said to myself, "mono floats, so let's clip some line and test it". Sample one, floated on the water on surface tension. Pushed it under to break the surface tension and it sank to the bottom. Must be fluorocarbon I thought. Sample two, floated on the water on surface tension. Pushed it under to break the surface tension and it sank to the bottom. Huh. I was pretty sure one of them was mono. Maybe I have bad memory. I needed a control sample. Clipped some line from a spool of 12 lb. mono, floated on the water on surface tension. Pushed it under to break the surface tension and it sank to the bottom. Huh? I was always told and believed mono floated. Well, my spool of mono does not. Experimental science has caused me to question the mono floats narrative. Thoughts?
  18. See Suspect in Columbia, TN double homicide speaks from jail For bass related context, Byron Childers is the Director of Sales for Missile Baits. Byron Childers As Director of Sales – Missile Baits. What on earth makes people snap like that? I just can't fathom it.
  19. Correction - the Striker does have GPS but does not have Navionics type mapping. You can create your own maps using quickdraw and paddling round. But it will not have access to preloaded maps.
  20. Mustang Elite and NRS Chinook user here. The Chinook I use on my kayak. I keep commonly used spare tackle in old hook packets in one of the pockets. Think whacky hooks and O-rings, Texas rig hooks & weights etc. That way I only have to dig into the crate for bigger stuff like jerk baits, cranks and jigs. The elite I wear on the boat all the time. I've nearly sent myself over the gunnels a couple of times, and the water up here is cold. The lake I was on this weekend was 55F for both the air and the water temperature. An unexpected dunk in that water wearing warm clothes is going to become an instant desperate fight for your life without a PFD, and a really uncomfortable experience with a very real risk of hypothermia with one.
