My brother just bought the St. Croix rod and is asking me for reel suggestions. He would be fishing clear water lakes for Smallmouth Bass. He usually only fishes with Texas rigged Senko. 

 

Any recommendations would be appreciated. 

I'm assuming this is a spinning rod that he has.

What his price range? That would help out.

It is a spinning rod, price is no object for him. I asked him about fishing line and he is old school and still likes to use monofilament. 

Look for one of the Stradic CI4's on closeout.

 

Tatula lt 2000

So many good reels out.

Like the others I would suggest the daiwa tatula or ballistic or stradic ci4+. The stradic FL is another great reel.

Pretty much anything from daiwa or shimano will work well.

    I fish nylon a lot. The 2500 size is the smallest I would use, due to line memory/flexure problems. If weight is no problem for him, try a Daiwa BG2500; it's strong, smooth and easy to maintain.
