Hey yall, 

I heard that some guys are using flourocarbon for buzz baits.  Just wondering if its all that good and what size flouro to use if it is better then mono. 

Maybe I don't have a very good imagination, but I can't think of a single reason why fluoro would be advantageous over mono for buzzbaits.

Guys are going to recommend braid if you go braid make sure you use a rod that will load up good or you WILL get your heart broken when you loose a giant due to tearing a huge hole in its mouth. Experience has taught me well on that one.

 

I went back to my tried and true big game 14 pound for buzzbaits and it allows enough stretch to not pull the buzzbait away from fish or rip the hooks out

For buzzbaits, I really don't think the type of line makes any difference. You don't need the sensitivity of braid or fluoro and you don't need a line that floats like mono or braid and you don't need a line that stretches like fluoro or mono.

If you only have one combo and fluoro is the line on it, go for it. If it's braid, just back off the drag so there's a little give on the strike and go for it.

I'm a mono/copolymer guy for buzzbaits.

Only guy I ever really heard using fluoro for buzzbaits is Swindle. I use co-poly, I would think fluoro would sink a bit and would cause the Buzzbait to nose dive a bit when you want it to plane on the surface.  

If I was out fishing and I wanted to throw a buzz bait and the rod that I grabbed to switch over had fluorocarbon on it I wouldn't worry about it much, BUT, If I'm rigging up stuff in my fishing shed, restringing line & stuff like that, my buzz bait rod will have some brand of premium mono or co-poly line on it.

I am with the copoly bunch. It has enough stretch & good abrasion strength. I use Gamma or Yo-Zuri either of these lines have good breaking strength. I do use KVD line conditioner with them.
